If WoW Forever does not appear in Battle.net, first confirm that your account actually has beta access. A free opt-in only enters you in the selection process; it does not guarantee an invitation. If the beta is licensed to your account, choose it from World of Warcraft’s Game Version menu and install it through Battle.net. Only troubleshoot drivers, storage, or launch errors after confirming access.
Check whether your Battle.net account has beta access
A missing beta entry is usually an access question before it is a download problem. Open Battle.net directly, sign in to the account you intend to use, and check its game accounts for a WoW Forever beta license. An opt-in confirmation or an email alone does not establish that the account has been selected. Blizzard’s beta announcement and installation instructions explain how to access the test client; the WoW Forever Beta Access Guide describes checking the account license.

If access came with an eligible bundle, make sure you are using the Battle.net account that made the purchase. The access guide says a license can take up to 30 minutes to appear. If it is still missing after that wait, fully quit and restart Battle.net, then check the account again. Go to Battle.net yourself rather than signing in through an email link.

Triage download, installation, and launch failures
Once the beta license is confirmed, use the failure stage to decide what to check next. Updating the app or graphics driver and checking storage are sensible first checks, not proof that any one of them caused the problem. For operating-system-specific steps or an error code, consult Blizzard’s current Common Technical Issues and Solutions.
| What happens | First check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The beta option is missing | Confirm the account license and whether selection or bundle entitlement applies. | After an eligible bundle purchase, allow up to 30 minutes for access to appear; then fully restart Battle.net. |
| Download or installation fails despite a license | Update Battle.net and the graphics driver; check available storage. | Use Blizzard’s current technical guidance for the error and your operating system. |
| Clicking Play briefly shows “Launching,” then returns to “Play” without an error | Record the client build and the exact behavior. | Check for a current launcher update and contact official support if it persists; no general fix is established by the available report. |
| A display or stability issue occurs on Mac | Check the installed client build against Blizzard’s current beta notes. | Update through Battle.net and reassess against the notes for that build. |
If Play silently returns to Play
A World of Warcraft Forums report dated September 19, 2026 describes the Play button changing briefly to “Launching” and then returning to “Play” without a crash or visible error. The poster listed several unsuccessful attempts, but the report does not confirm a remedy. That symptom therefore should not be treated as proof that a particular reinstall, firewall change, or administrator setting will fix everyone’s client. See the forum report for its specific context.

Check beta notes for build-specific fixes
Beta fixes can depend on the client build and platform. Blizzard’s September 23, 2026 notice for 1.60.1 Build 69977 identifies fixes for some Mac display and stability issues; it does not promise to resolve every Mac problem or unrelated launch failure. Check the current Battle.net update and Blizzard’s beta client update notice rather than assuming an older fix applies to your issue.
