Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf Wi‑Fi or graphics stopped working—or your Mac reboots or misbehaves when it sleeps—after installing macOS on an unsupported Mac, first check OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP)’s Post-Install Root Patches. The right fix depends on your exact Mac model, macOS version, OCLP version, graphics hardware, and Wi‑Fi card. A macOS update can remove root patches, so a problem that returns after updating may need the applicable patches installed again.
Start by checking the Mac and patch status
Before changing settings or considering replacement hardware, record the details that determine which fixes apply:

- Mac model
- Installed macOS version
- OCLP version
- Graphics hardware
- Wi‑Fi card, if known
Open OCLP and check the Post-Install Root Patches status. Root patches can restore older drivers and other functionality, including graphics and Wi‑Fi, on affected configurations. If applicable patches are missing, use OCLP to apply them. See the OCLP Post-Install Root Patch documentation.
Fix Wi‑Fi problems
Check patches and get online if needed
Some required patch packages must be downloaded. In some cases, the first root-patch run installs only the Wi‑Fi driver so the Mac can connect to the internet. After connecting, run root patching again to install the remaining patches. A wired Ethernet connection can help install all patches in one go, according to OCLP. If your Mac has no usable Ethernet port, you may need an adapter; check that it fits your Mac’s ports and works with your macOS version. OCLP does not recommend a particular adapter.
#1 Best Overall
- AC1300 Dual Band Wi-Fi Adapter for PC, Desktop and Laptop. Archer T3U provides 2.4G/5G strong high speed connection throughout your house.
- Archer T3U also provides MU-MIMO, which delivers Beamforming connection for lag-free Wi-Fi experience.
- Usb 3.0 provides 10x faster speed than USB 2.0, along with mini and portable size that allows the user to carry the device everywhere.

- Supports Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP/ Mac OS X 10.9-10.14
If Wi‑Fi is unavailable and Ethernet is not an option, the first patch run may still restore Wi‑Fi before you reconnect and complete the remaining patches. For the documented process, see OCLP’s root-patching instructions.
For legacy cards on Monterey, try adding the network manually
For the specific case of legacy Wi‑Fi cards on macOS Monterey, OCLP recommends connecting through the Wi‑Fi menu’s “Other” option or adding the network in Network settings. This guidance is specific to that Monterey issue; it should not be assumed to resolve Wi‑Fi trouble on every macOS version or card. See OCLP troubleshooting.

Check card compatibility before replacing hardware
Wi‑Fi compatibility varies by macOS release and card. In its Ventura notes, OCLP identifies Atheros cards and Broadcom BCM94328/BCM94322 as unsupported, and BCM943224, BCM94331, BCM94360, and BCM943602 as supported families. These statements apply to the Ventura context on that page, not automatically to other macOS versions or every Mac configuration. Check your exact card and model against the relevant OCLP compatibility information before buying a replacement. See OCLP model and compatibility notes.
Fix missing graphics acceleration
If the interface is unusually slow, visual effects are missing, or graphics acceleration is unavailable, check whether the required Post-Install Root Patches have been applied. OCLP lists graphics drivers among the functionality root patches can restore and directs users with no acceleration to apply the relevant patches through the patcher. See OCLP’s “No Graphics Acceleration” troubleshooting guidance.

A first patch run that installed Wi‑Fi support but could not download other assets may leave graphics work incomplete. Get the Mac online and run root patching again before treating the graphics symptom as a separate hardware failure.
Diagnose sleep and wake problems by symptom
Identify what actually happens: does the Mac reboot as it enters hibernation with a “Sleep Wake Failure,” fail to enter sleep, wake immediately, or wake with a display problem? These symptoms do not necessarily have the same cause or fix.

If the Mac reboots when entering hibernation
For some models with this specific hibernation reboot symptom, OCLP documents the following temporary Terminal workaround:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
This is a model-specific workaround, not a universal remedy for all sleep or wake problems. OCLP’s guidance is in its troubleshooting documentation.

If sleep fails in another way
Use a process of elimination rather than applying the hibernation command to a different symptom. Dortania’s general sleep guide lists USB devices, GPUs, Thunderbolt, network interfaces, NVMe, and CPU power management as possible contributors. Disconnect USB devices during diagnosis and see whether the behavior changes. The guide covers OpenCore configurations broadly, including Hackintosh systems, so its checklist does not establish the cause on a particular unsupported Mac. See Dortania’s sleep troubleshooting guide.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Recheck patches after a macOS update
OCLP says macOS updates can wipe root patches and directs users to reinstall them afterward. If Wi‑Fi or graphics trouble appears or returns after an update, check Post-Install Root Patches and repeat the applicable patching steps. Keep an internet path available during the process: some support packages are downloaded, and Ethernet can help when Wi‑Fi is the feature that needs restoring. See OCLP’s post-install instructions and OCLP’s update guidance.
