If preview is complete but the saved file is not, retry saving and inspect the PDF in another viewer; the cause can depend on the page, browser, or system.
First check whether the print preview is truncated
- Open the webpage’s Print command. In Chrome on Windows or Linux, press Ctrl+P; on Mac, press Command+P. Firefox also opens print preview from its menu. Edge uses Ctrl+P on Windows and Command+P on macOS.
- Choose a PDF destination. Firefox’s preview offers Save to PDF; Chrome’s print workflow lets you choose a destination.
- Check the Pages setting and select all pages rather than a limited range.
- Scroll through the preview and note its page count before saving.
The preview is the quickest way to separate a print-rendering problem from a save or viewer problem. If it already contains only one page or stops at the same content, investigate the page layout, page selection, or browser rendering. If it shows all expected pages but the resulting PDF does not, retry the save and open the file in a different PDF viewer. The available guidance does not establish one universal cause for that mismatch.

A browser’s visible viewport is not necessarily the intended print area. A reader discussion reported that built-in Firefox printing worked for one test page after an add-on saved only the first screen, but that is an anecdote, not a guarantee for every page or extension. Lower-page text or sections are absent
Confirm that preview includes the missing material and that all pages are selected. If preview itself stops early, try the browser’s built-in Save to PDF destination, then test a simplified or reading view if the browser offers one. Compare another webpage to see whether the issue is specific to one site.

Text is present, but colors, backgrounds, or images are missing
Enable background printing only when the visual design is missing. In Edge, turn on Background graphics in More settings; Firefox offers Print backgrounds. These options control background appearance, not whether lower-page text is included. Firefox also cautions that webpages can be designed to look different on paper than on screen. CSS print styles can change a page’s printed layout.
Content is clipped at page edges or breaks awkwardly
Use the preview to test paper size, orientation, margins, or scale. Edge documents default, none, minimum, and custom margins, plus scale controls. Scaling can make text smaller, so check legibility and page breaks before saving. These settings help fit content; they are not a substitute for fixing a page range that excludes later pages.

Try a simpler version of the page
When the problem appears limited to one site, a reading or simplified mode can help determine whether the site’s print styling is involved. In Firefox, choose Simplified format in print preview when available; its Print backgrounds setting is unavailable in that format. In Edge, try Immersive Reader and print the simplified page, if the site supports it. Either mode can rearrange or omit visual elements, so compare its content with the original rather than assuming the result is identical.
Isolate the website, browser, and system
- Test a second webpage or online document in the same browser with the same settings. If it prints fully, the original page or its print styling may be responsible.
- Test a normal document in another application. If that also fails, investigate the printer driver, hardware, Windows, or connectivity. If it works, the browser is a possibility, though a driver can affect Edge differently from other applications.
- If Edge preview reports an error, retry preview, restart Edge, or try another printer. For a particular preview failure, Microsoft also advises checking that Edge’s built-in PDF viewer is present. These steps address preview errors, not every case of a PDF stopping after the first screen.
- Change one setting at a time and inspect preview again. That makes it easier to see which change affects completeness or appearance.
Microsoft Support notes that “A website or document may have damaged graphics, fonts, or code that can be the cause of the print issue.” Its Edge print troubleshooting guidance recommends comparing sites and applications and collecting the website or document, steps taken, and printer details when reporting a problem.

Save and verify the PDF
After saving, open the file and check its page count, the last expected paragraph or section, and any important tables or images. If it is still incomplete, note the browser and operating system, the site, whether preview was incomplete, and whether another page or application printed correctly. That information helps narrow down whether the cause is the page, browser, or system.
