What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Start by checking whether your PC meets the current Steam listing’s demo requirements: Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, 50 GB of free space, an SSD, and a CPU and GPU at least as powerful as the listed minimums. Steam warns that the demo specifications may change before release, and meeting them does not guarantee a particular frame rate. The available information does not establish a single cause or a verified Valor Mortis-specific fix for crashes, stuttering, or low FPS, so work through the checks below without treating any generic PC tweak as a guaranteed cure.
Check your PC against the demo requirements
The current Steam listing publishes these requirements for the demo and says, “This demo spec is subject to change for the final release.” Steam also says the game is not yet available. Treat the figures as a baseline for the demo, not as a promise of smooth performance or a final-release specification.

| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11, 64-bit | Windows 11, 64-bit |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700 | AMD Ryzen 7 7700 or Intel Core i7-13700 |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics card | AMD Radeon RX 6700 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 50 GB available; SSD required | 50 GB available; SSD required |
Compare your CPU and GPU with the appropriate column rather than looking only at RAM. If your PC falls below minimum, the game may be operating outside its listed baseline. If it meets minimum—or even recommended—requirements and still stutters or crashes, that does not identify the cause: Steam notes that meeting system requirements alone does not guarantee high FPS or strong in-game performance.

Enhanced by Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology, it ensures stable operation even under heavy workloads. The integration of Smart Cache optimizes data retrieval, while Zip data compression maximizes storage efficiency.
- 【Free Biwin Intelligence Software】Biwin Intelligence is multifunctional management software, designed to support Biwin consumer-brand storage products. For a more convenient and more secure storage experience, this software helps users manage their drives with features like performance test, data migration, firmware update, and more.
- Verify the basics. Check your Windows edition and version, CPU, GPU, installed RAM, available disk space, and whether the game is on an SSD. Compare these with the Steam table above.
- Use an SSD if the game is on an HDD. The listing marks an SSD as required. Move or install the game on an SSD if necessary, but do not assume that will resolve every crash, stutter, or low-FPS problem.
- Close unnecessary background applications. Steam Support’s performance guidance recommends reducing background activity and freeing memory. Recheck the game after closing other applications.
- Check component drivers. Steam Support recommends checking drivers for system components. If you update a driver, note the version so you can include it in a support report if the issue continues.
- Lower demanding graphics settings or resolution if performance is poor. This is general Steam guidance, not a confirmed Valor Mortis-specific setting or fix. Change one option at a time and compare the result in the same situation.
- Escalate persistent crashes or specific errors. For issues that need game-specific help, Steam Support directs players to the third-party game’s support team. Use the game’s Steam support route and describe what happens rather than applying unverified launch commands or configuration edits.
What player reports do—and do not—tell you
Players have posted reports of stuttering, crashes, low FPS, and one D3D12core error in the Valor Mortis Steam community feedback thread. These are individual reports; they do not establish how common the problems are, what causes them, or whether a proposed remedy works generally. The D3D12core wording is one reported instance, not evidence of a widespread error with a confirmed fix.
If you report a reproducible problem, include your CPU, GPU, RAM, Windows version, graphics-driver version, resolution, graphics settings, and the action immediately before the crash or slowdown. The community thread can provide a place for demo feedback, but posts there should not be mistaken for an official diagnosis.

Keep older pre-alpha comments in context
In an October 6, 2025 pre-alpha playtest announcement, the developer said performance and optimization still needed work and listed hardware not being automatically detected among known issues for that build. Those comments describe that earlier pre-alpha build; they do not confirm that the current demo has the same problem or establish a current fix.

The available guidance does not confirm a Valor Mortis-specific remedy for persistent crashes, stuttering, or low FPS. Avoid arbitrary launch options, configuration-file or registry edits, driver-cleaner utilities, and hardware purchases unless a reliable, issue-specific source supports them. If you contact game support, provide the system and reproduction details above so the team can assess the particular setup and failure.
