Fix a Zenbook Duo touchscreen that is inaccurate or unresponsive
- Confirm the display supports touch. In Windows, search for and open View pen and touch info. Check whether touch input is available for the affected display. If a touch-capable screen is not recognized as touch-capable, ASUS recommends authorized service. See ASUS touchscreen troubleshooting.
- Check the panel and accessories. Turn off the device, inspect the screen for damage, and gently wipe dirt or smudges with a soft cloth that is only lightly dampened. Do not spray liquid directly onto the panel; let it dry fully before testing. Temporarily remove a screen protector or nearby accessory that might interfere.
- Check the touchscreen driver. Open Device Manager and expand Human Interface Devices. If HID-compliant touch screen is disabled, enable it. If it is enabled but not working, ASUS’s guide describes uninstalling the touch driver, scanning for hardware changes, restarting, and testing again. Keep the computer online in case Windows needs to retrieve the driver.
- Update and recalibrate. Install current Windows updates and applicable BIOS and model drivers using ASUS and Windows instructions. If touch lands in the wrong place, search Windows for Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input, select the touch display, and reset or run calibration as appropriate. Restart before retesting.
- Use the model-specific firmware resource only when it matches. ASUS lists a Touch Screen Firmware Update Tool and User Guide for the UX8406MA support page, dated 2024-09-18. That listing is not a universal fix: follow the tool’s instructions only for the matching model and version. The support page is ASUS UX8406MA downloads.
If touch still fails, run MyASUS System Diagnosis if it is available on your device, or contact ASUS support for diagnosis rather than assuming the panel has failed.

Reconnect or troubleshoot the detachable Bluetooth keyboard
Pairing and connection
- Update the computer’s drivers through MyASUS, as ASUS advises.
- On the detachable keyboard, hold F10 or F11 until its indicator flashes, then accept the pairing prompt on the computer.
- If no prompt appears, open Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device and pair it there. If Windows displays a PIN, type it on the keyboard and press Enter.
Check the keyboard’s battery status in ScreenXpert’s Bluetooth device status. Charge it through the POGO PIN connection or the keyboard’s USB-C port. ASUS says that USB-C port is for charging and does not provide keyboard data transfer.

If keystrokes produce the wrong characters, check the Windows language and keyboard layout. For faults with the built-in keyboard or hotkeys, use ASUS’s model-specific keyboard guidance and update relevant drivers or utilities through MyASUS or the ASUS support site: ASUS keyboard troubleshooting.

Keyboard backlight only
If the keys work but the backlight does not, use ASUS’s separate backlight troubleshooting path. It includes an embedded controller (EC) reset and BIOS-setting checks; these steps are specific to backlight faults, not a general remedy for every keyboard problem: ASUS keyboard backlight troubleshooting.
Fix a black or incorrectly configured second screen
For the UX8406 second screen, first open ScreenXpert and turn on Switch on the second screen. If it remains off, open Windows Settings > System > Display and choose Extend these displays. ASUS also notes that the second screen is not displayed while Windows is at the lock screen. These controls are described in the ASUS Zenbook Duo FAQ.

If the panels look different in color
Compare the MyASUS Splendid modes set for each panel, then check Windows color profile and HDR settings. ASUS says slight color variation can be normal because the two panels are viewed at different angles.

Separate boot-time black screens from display faults
A black screen while Windows is starting is a different problem from a second screen that is switched off or an internal panel showing flicker, blur, or artifacts. Use ASUS’s black-screen troubleshooting guide for startup or no-display problems for a machine that powers on to a black screen. If the applicable checks do not resolve the fault, run MyASUS System Diagnosis if available and contact ASUS through the support route for your exact model.
