Start with the fix for your platform
Fireproof Games’ official Old Sins help page recommends different first steps for mobile and PC problems. Try the relevant steps below before making changes that could affect local game data.

iPhone and iPad crashes
Restart, then try launching online
Fireproof’s first recommendation is to turn off and restart the device. It also advises starting the game while connected to the internet because updated settings may be delivered to address crashes. Internet access is a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.
Check the stated iOS threshold
Fireproof’s help page says Old Sins runs on Apple devices using iOS 10 and above. That is the developer’s stated threshold; it does not guarantee trouble-free operation on every newer device or iOS release.

Contact support with useful details
If the crash persists, email [email protected] with the device type and iOS version. Include when the crash occurs if you can identify a particular screen or action.
iCloud sync stuck or not completing
Restart before changing iCloud settings
If the game is stuck on “Syncing with iCloud,” restart the iPhone or iPad first. If syncing remains stuck, Fireproof recommends disabling Old Sins in the device’s iCloud-enabled app settings. The exact menu labels can vary by iOS version, so look in the device’s iCloud settings for the app list and turn off Old Sins there.

Understand what this workaround does not promise
This is guidance for an ongoing sync problem; it is not a promise that disabling iCloud will restore a save that has already disappeared or become corrupted. If the issue continues, contact Fireproof before deleting the game or its data.

Android compatibility and Google Play errors
Compare the device with Fireproof’s stated baseline
Fireproof’s help page states that the Android version requires OpenGL ES 3.0 support and more than 1 GB of RAM. The page cautions that some devices meeting those requirements may still be incompatible, so these figures should not be treated as a guarantee for every current Android phone or tablet.

If Google Play says the game is incompatible
If you believe Google Play is reporting incompatibility incorrectly, Fireproof suggests clearing the Google Play app cache and restarting the device. If the message remains, contact support and provide the device model.
PC and Steam: verify the installation and update drivers
Restart and verify the game files
- Restart the PC.
- In Steam, open your Library, right-click The Room 4: Old Sins, and choose Properties.
- Open the game’s Local Files controls and choose the option to verify the integrity of the downloaded game files. Steam’s labels can vary across interface versions.
- Check that your PC drivers are current, as Fireproof recommends.
Send support the files needed to investigate
If the problem continues, Fireproof asks players to provide the Player log, output log, and Steam system-information file created using Steam’s Save all information option. The developer’s help page is the reference for its support instructions. The game’s Steam listing identifies Fireproof Games as publisher and gives February 11, 2021 as the PC release date.

Black screen, including when sound continues
Fireproof’s official help page does not give a separate universal black-screen fix. Use the general troubleshooting for your platform: restart the device; on iOS, try starting the game online; on PC, verify the game files and check drivers.

When a puzzle blocks progress: use the rollback menu
Try hints and reload first
For a puzzle or bug that prevents progress, Fireproof recommends checking the hints and reloading the save before using rollback.
Open the hidden rollback menu
- Pause the game.
- Tap the words Game Paused five times.
- In the rollback menu, select the point corresponding to the room you last opened.
Rollback sends you back to an earlier point, so you will need to repeat some progress. Fireproof notes that “Attic” is very near the end of the game; it is not the beginning.
Missing profile or suspected save corruption
The rollback menu is for recovering from a progression block by returning to an earlier point. It is not documented as a way to restore a deleted profile or repair any corrupted save. Steam users have reported profiles becoming unavailable after hard crashes, but those anecdotes do not establish a reliable recovery procedure.
If your profile is missing, contact Fireproof before uninstalling the game or deleting local files. The developer’s Steam-pinned troubleshooting FAQ directs players to its official help page and says to email support if the page does not resolve the issue.
