Then compare the problem with the matching official patch notes: patch 1.30, dated October 1, 2026, lists stability and performance work across platforms, but does not promise a fix for every crash or save error. First, identify your platform, version, and symptom
Before changing settings, write down whether you play on PC/Steam, Steam Deck, Steam Machine, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S, and check that the update completed. The patch notes include platform-specific options, so advice for one version may not apply to another.

Be specific about what is going wrong. A crash at launch or while loading, a crash during play, a save or load error, and a frame-rate problem are different symptoms. Note the exact error message, when the issue began, and the action that triggers it. The fact that a problem appeared after an update does not by itself establish that the update caused it.

Check the notes for your installed update
The latest official update covered here is patch 1.30, announced by Questline/Awaken Realms on October 1, 2026. The developer says it includes stability and performance improvements across platforms. Its notes also list specific UI, keyboard-layout, and settings fixes, but do not describe a general save-recovery procedure or guarantee a fix for every crash. Read the official patch 1.30 announcement and match its changes to your platform and symptom.

Older advice may no longer match the game’s current settings. The July 2026 official announcement archive includes patch 1.25 context, including an Ultra+ graphics preset. Use notes and menu options that correspond to your installed version rather than assuming an older guide describes today’s settings.
If performance dropped after the update
Check the current graphics options that apply to your platform, changing only settings relevant to the symptom. Patch 1.30 adds FSR to the upscaling options, separates Grass Density and Vegetation Quality, and adds a Lens Flare setting. The developer says grass-density values were adjusted partly to help GPU-bound setups, high resolutions, and lower-end GPUs. These are options to inspect, not a universal recommended configuration.

These figures are developer-published estimates, not independent benchmark results or a promise that your system will gain the same amount. The earlier patch 1.16 announcement reported a 3–5 FPS boost on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC; that January 28, 2026 figure refers to a different update and should not be substituted for patch 1.30’s estimates. The official notes reviewed list stability work, but they do not establish a general fix for crashes, corrupted saves, cloud-save conflicts, or restoring a lost save. Avoid deleting or overwriting saves, editing configuration files, or applying unofficial fixes when you do not know which copy of a save is affected. The official support article provides a contact route rather than step-by-step recovery instructions.

- Record your platform and game version, the exact error text, and whether the failure happens at launch, during loading, while saving, or during play.
- Note what action triggers the problem and whether it started immediately after the update.

When to escalate
If the update is confirmed installed, the version-specific notes do not match the problem, or a crash or save error persists, use Questline’s documented support route rather than risking save data with unverified repair steps.
