Identify the failure before changing settings
Note what happens and when: Sifu may not open, may exit before the menu, may crash during play, may stutter, or may reach the menu without responding to a controller. Also record your storefront, Windows version, CPU, GPU, RAM, graphics-driver version, display mode, and whether the problem started after a game or driver update. Advice for Steam Input, in particular, may not apply to Epic or another PC version.
Check PC requirements and update state
Steam’s Sifu technical-issue listing gives these requirements. The game listing specifies Windows 8.1 as the minimum and Windows 10 as recommended; separately, Steam says its client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024. Check both the game listing and the client requirement relevant to your setup, as published requirements can change.

Update Sifu through the storefront where you own it, then restart the PC. If you use Steam, its file verification is a reasonable general diagnostic, but the cited sources do not establish it as a Sifu-specific fix. Compare your hardware with the listed requirements before considering an upgrade; the available evidence does not show that buying hardware is the right fix for a particular fault.

Fix a controller that Sifu does not recognize
The reported controller advice applies to Steam copies and is community-reported, not a guaranteed fix. First determine whether Steam sees the controller and whether it works outside Sifu. Keep keyboard input available while testing so you can still navigate menus.
- Close Sifu and connect the controller using your usual wired or wireless setup.
- Open Steam’s current controller settings and confirm the device appears. Check the support or configuration option for its controller type. Historical instructions referred to Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings and enabling Xbox configuration support, but Steam’s interface can change; a commenter later reported that the referenced checkbox was absent from their settings view.
- Relaunch Sifu and test a standard controller layout. If the game still ignores input, restart the PC and test again.
- If you have another known-working controller or connection method already available, use it as a diagnostic comparison—not as a reason to buy replacement hardware. Check whether Steam recognizes each setup and whether the problem occurs only in Sifu.
A March 2023 Steam user said enabling Xbox configuration support resolved their case, and another participant reported success; a separate user said restarting fixed their issue. Reduce stutter, uneven frame rates, or crashes during play
Test reversible changes individually so you can tell whether one helps. Restore a stable display mode, lower demanding graphics settings, and temporarily disable overlays. If Sifu launches and the option is available, test V-Sync or a sensible frame-rate cap; note the original setting and change only one item at a time.
One Steam user in September 2023 reported that the frame rate seemed uncapped after an update and that enabling V-Sync addressed a crash. This is an unverified account of one setup, not a proven diagnosis or universal fix. The Steam crash and frame-rate discussion records that report.

Handle a failure before the menu
- Write down the exact error text, or note whether the game exits without showing one. Record whether the failure began immediately after a game or driver update.
- Restart the PC and check that both Sifu and its storefront are updated.
- For Steam, use the storefront’s file-checking flow if available. For another storefront, use its own support instructions; the available sources do not establish one fix that applies across every PC version.
- Avoid deleting configuration or save files unless you have made a backup. The sources reviewed here do not identify a confirmed current, universal launch fix or a Sifu-specific graphics-driver, runtime, or configuration-file remedy.
