Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy feels choppy when you move the mouse, first identify what is actually stuttering: the whole image, the camera only during mouse movement, or the pointer in menus. Those symptoms can involve different parts of a PC, and available official sources do not confirm a specific cause or a guaranteed game-specific fix. Use the checks below to narrow down the problem without assuming you need a new mouse or graphics card.
First, identify what stutters
Try to distinguish the symptom before changing settings. This is a general troubleshooting method, not a verified diagnosis for this game.

- The whole scene hitches: Watch a static scene with your mouse still. If the image pauses or skips regardless of mouse movement, note that it is a broader frame-rendering hitch rather than a symptom limited to camera movement.
- The camera feels uneven only when you move the mouse: If the scene looks steady while still but camera movement becomes choppy or delayed with mouse input, record that distinction. It does not by itself prove the mouse is at fault.
- The pointer acts up in menus or outside the game: Note whether the pointer problem is limited to the game menus or also happens on the Windows desktop. That helps separate an in-game symptom from one that occurs elsewhere.
When you retest, use the same scene and the same type of mouse movement. That makes it easier to tell whether a change helped.
Check the installation and PC requirements
Steam’s listing says the game requires an SSD and 75 GB of available storage. If it is installed on a hard disk drive, the installation does not meet that published Steam requirement. That is a compatibility and installation check—not proof that the drive is causing mouse lag, and not evidence that an SSD will cure camera-only stutter. Check the live Steam listing for the requirements that apply to your store version.

Steam’s published PC requirements and performance targets are:
| Steam listing tier | CPU | GPU and VRAM | Memory | Storage | Stated target |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or Intel Core i3-12100; listing notes four cores/eight threads | AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 examples; 6 GB VRAM | 16 GB RAM | 75 GB available; SSD required | 30 FPS at 1920×1080 on Low |
| Recommended | AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i5-12400F | AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti examples; 8 GB VRAM | 16 GB RAM | 75 GB available; SSD required | 60 FPS at 1920×1080 on Ultra |
Steam also lists Windows 10/11 64-bit, DirectX 12, and support for DX12.1 / Shader Model 6.6 as required. Its FPS figures are store-stated targets, not independent benchmark results. Requirements may differ by store or change; check the live listing for your build rather than treating these targets as a guarantee of smooth mouse movement. Steam: Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.

Why AMD’s published requirements do not match Steam’s
AMD publishes a separate specification table with different CPU, GPU, and storage details. Do not combine the two tables into a single set of requirements: compare your PC with one source at a time, preferably the live listing for the store and build you use.

| Source and tier | CPU | GPU | Memory and API | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AMD minimum | Ryzen 5 3600 or equivalent | Radeon RX 5700 XT or equivalent | 16 GB RAM; DirectX 12 | 50 GB available; SSD recommended |
| AMD recommended | Ryzen 7 5800X | Radeon RX 6800 | 16 GB RAM; DirectX 12 | 50 GB available; SSD required |
AMD’s page and Steam therefore differ on several specifications, including the listed storage capacity and when an SSD is required. AMD’s figures are from its page accessed October 5, 2026; recheck the current requirements for your store version. AMD’s Resonance requirements.

Change one thing at a time
Once you have recorded the symptom and checked the relevant requirements, make one change, then retest in the same scene. Keep a note of what you changed and whether the entire image, mouse-dependent camera movement, or menu pointer behavior changed. If you change several things at once, you cannot tell which one mattered.
No cited official source verifies a particular mouse model, USB port, polling rate, driver, graphics toggle, or launch option as a fix for this title’s mouse stutter. Avoid treating any such adjustment as an established Resonance remedy. Likewise, do not buy a new mouse or upgrade a GPU solely on the basis of this symptom; the available evidence does not tie either purchase to it.

What to include when reporting persistent stutter
If the problem continues, send a report through the official support or community routes linked from the Steam listing. Include enough detail for someone to distinguish a whole-scene hitch from camera or pointer behavior:

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was released on August 27, 2026. Steam describes it as a single-player prequel set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, starring Sophia. Its combat, exploration, and puzzles are part of a different gameplay approach; Xbox Wire’s June 8, 2026 interview quotes the developers describing a more direct and dynamic combat system. That description does not establish a cause or fix for mouse stutter. Xbox Wire interview.
