Start with the room, not the TV settings: reflections are room light bouncing off the screen. Close or adjust blinds, and turn off, dim, or reposition lamps that appear in the reflection. If glare persists, check whether the exact TV model has a reflection-reduction treatment and consider its picture-quality tradeoffs. Don’t peel screen film or add aftermarket film without model-specific guidance.
Why an OLED TV reflects light
Glare is light from a window, lamp, or another source reflecting off the screen and making the image harder to see. Samsung describes these as common sources of reflections on a TV display: Samsung’s glare guidance.

A brighter picture may be easier to see in some rooms, but a picture setting cannot remove the reflected image. No universal setting that eliminates OLED reflections is established here.
Reduce the room light reaching the screen
- Identify the source. While the reflection is visible, look for a bright window, overhead fixture, table lamp, or other lit surface reflected on the display.
- Change the light source. Close or adjust blinds or curtains during the affected viewing time. Turn off, dim, or reposition a lamp that appears on the screen.
- Try a different viewing or TV position. If practical, shift the seating or TV so the direct source is no longer reflected toward the viewer. There is no universal placement geometry or quantified improvement established for every room.
- Check the result before changing settings. Reassess the image after each room adjustment so you can tell whether the reflection has changed.
These are practical, reversible steps based on the identified causes of glare; their effectiveness depends on the room and light source. Room-darkening curtains may help with daylight from a window, but they are not a guaranteed fix for lamps or reflections from every angle.

Check whether it is a smudge instead
A smudge is dirt on the screen, not a reflected room image. If it remains visible after controlling the light, clean the display only as directed in the manual for your exact model.
For the LG OLED55B3PSA-family TVs, the manual says to unplug the set and wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. It warns not to spray liquid directly onto the display or use glass cleaner, alcohol, or abrasive products: LG OLED55B3PSA-family manual and support. Other models may have different instructions, so follow the owner’s manual. Cleaning can remove smudges; it does not remove reflections.

Don’t remove screen film unless the manufacturer says to
Protective packaging film and a functional screen layer are not necessarily the same thing. LG Korea says a removal sticker or printed removal instructions identify a removable protective film on applicable LG TVs. Without those indicators, the surface film is the functional polarizing film; removing it can make the screen unusable. See LG Korea’s guidance on protective film. These instructions apply to the LG TVs covered by that guidance, not automatically to other brands.

When to consider a TV with reflection-reduction treatment
If room changes do not make viewing comfortable, compare the exact models you are considering rather than relying on a feature name alone. Manufacturer descriptions provide examples, not independent head-to-head test results.

In a showroom or when comparing specifications, consider how each screen handles reflections, whether its surface looks hazy, the appearance of fine detail and color, your room’s light sources, and the exact model, size, and price. Direct sun, overhead lights, and lamps can create different reflection problems, and the available manufacturer information does not quantify a universally best match.
