First, work out whether the problem is limited to one movie, affects all playback on one device, or happens across devices—and whether you’re watching in the Paramount+ app or casting to a TV. That distinction helps you choose the relevant fix. Paramount+’s published steps specifically cover Chromecast playback and LG TVs, so they should not be treated as universal fixes for every device.
Start by narrowing down the playback problem
Try to identify the scope before changing settings. If possible, check another title on the same device, then try Paramount+ on a second device. Note whether the movie never starts, stops to buffer, or plays unevenly. These checks are a practical way to distinguish a title-specific issue from a device or connection problem; Paramount+ does not present them as a universal diagnostic test.

- One movie, one device: Try a different title to see whether playback is limited to that movie.
- Several titles, one device: Focus on the app, device, or its connection.
- Playback fails on multiple devices: Note that when contacting Paramount+ support; the available platform-specific steps below may not address a broader service or account issue.
Paramount+ Help Center lists separate help areas for streaming video, error codes, Apple TV video, casting, and regional availability. Choose the topic that matches what you’re doing rather than assuming that every playback failure has the same cause: Paramount+ streaming issues.

For Chromecast, first check the connection between the two devices. Paramount+ says the Chromecast and the device sending the cast must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. It also recommends a strong Wi-Fi signal.

- Confirm that the phone, tablet, or other device you’re casting from and the Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check whether the signal is strong where both devices are being used. If it is weak, improve the Wi-Fi connection before testing playback again.
- If video is choppy, freezes, or skips, disconnect both the casting device and Chromecast from Wi-Fi.
- Power-cycle the router, then reconnect both devices to Wi-Fi and try casting again.
These are Paramount+’s recommendations for choppy, freezing, or skipping Chromecast video—not a guarantee that router or Wi-Fi steps will fix every movie that will not play. Its casting guidance also recommends keeping the Paramount+ app updated, since the app is updated regularly: Paramount+ casting help.
Update the Paramount+ app
Check for an available Paramount+ app update on the device where you watch or cast. Paramount+ recommends using the latest app version in its casting guidance. The exact update path depends on the device, and the cited help does not specify a universal menu path, so use that device’s app store or built-in update controls.

If the Paramount+ app crashes on an LG TV
These instructions are specific to LG TVs. Paramount+ lists LG models running webOS 4.0 or higher, including 2018–current models, as supported. If the app crashes on an LG TV, its guidance is to unplug the TV for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and relaunch Paramount+. It also recommends checking for updates using LG’s instructions.
- Unplug the LG TV from power and wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the TV, turn it on, and relaunch Paramount+.
- Check for updates using the LG TV update instructions linked from Paramount+’s support page.
For an unresolved LG streaming issue, Paramount+ support may ask for the TV’s IP address or device ID. The device ID is available in the Paramount+ app under Settings > Support. See Paramount+ supported devices and LG guidance.

If the relevant steps do not help, contact Paramount+ through its Help Center and describe what you have already tried. Include whether you watch directly in the app or cast, the affected device, whether other titles or devices work, and any error code shown. For an LG TV, have the device ID or IP address available if requested.
Paramount+ maintains separate help topics for streaming issues and error codes, but the general streaming article’s detailed instructions are not reproduced in the available help listing. Avoid assuming that an unlisted step—such as clearing an app cache or reinstalling the app—is an official fix for your device without checking its specific support guidance.
