Then compare the spoken weather response with the screen, confirm Wi-Fi, and restart the clock. Use the reset instructions for your exact model only if those checks do not help.
Identify the clock model and the symptom
Lenovo has separate guidance for the original Smart Clock and Smart Clock 2, and their controls differ. Smart Clock Essential reports are useful context, not proof that every model shares the same problem or remedy. Identify which model you have before following reset instructions.

Be specific about what is wrong: the city or postcode, all weather information, only the outdoor temperature, or just Celsius versus Fahrenheit. These symptoms point to different checks.
Compare spoken weather with the display
Ask, “Hey Google, what’s the weather in [your city]?” Compare the spoken location and answer with what the clock displays. This is a diagnostic check, not a guaranteed way to refresh or repair the screen.

- If the spoken response gives the wrong place, check the Google account, selected Home, and its address.
- If the spoken response is correct but weather is absent from the screen, the location may be right while the display behavior remains unresolved. A correct spoken result does not confirm that the display has recovered.
This distinction is a practical inference from separate reports of wrong-location and missing-display symptoms, not an official Lenovo fault-isolation procedure. Recent user reports suggest trying a voice query, but do not establish that it fixes the display.
Check the Google Home address
Google says the address for the selected Home is the default location for local weather and time unless another place is specified. Check that the clock is associated with the intended Google account and Home, then verify the address and map pin for that Home. - In the Google Home app, switch to the account linked to the clock and select the Home that contains it.
- Open that Home’s settings and address.
- Confirm the street address and place the map pin over the home, then save.
If the weather is merely in the wrong temperature unit, that is a separate setting issue. Google lets you change Assistant’s preferred weather unit, but says unified temperature-setting changes do not apply to displays on third-party devices. The setting therefore may not correct a Celsius/Fahrenheit mismatch on a Lenovo screen, and it will not restore missing weather or fix the city. See Change the temperature unit.
Confirm Wi-Fi and restart the clock
Lenovo says the Smart Clock needs active Wi-Fi and is designed to stay plugged in. Check whether the clock appears online in Google Home and whether other devices can reach the internet. - Unplug the clock’s power adapter and let the device shut down.
- Reconnect power and allow it to start. Lenovo’s Smart Clock 2 guide advises waiting a few minutes for boot-up; timing and interface may vary by model.
- After it is online, check whether the weather appears and whether its location matches the spoken response.
Reset only as a later step
If the simpler checks fail, follow the factory-reset steps for your exact model in Lenovo’s support page. Lenovo lists reset as a later troubleshooting option for certain original Smart Clock hardware issues and Smart Clock 2 Assistant problems. A reset is a general device troubleshooting step, not proof that the weather service is at fault, and you will need to set up the clock again afterward.

Lenovo directs users to customer support when its documented troubleshooting does not resolve a device or Assistant problem. Provide the model, whether spoken weather is correct, what the screen shows, and which address, connectivity, restart, and model-specific reset checks you tried.

Google Home community posts from September 2026 describe Smart Clock Essential users seeing a wrong postcode or missing weather, including one report of missing outdoor temperature after unplugging. These are individual user reports, not confirmation of a widespread outage or a backend cause. The official Lenovo and Google guidance cited here does not establish phone location permissions, clearing an app cache, or repeatedly resetting the clock as universal fixes. No official incident notice confirming a current Lenovo Smart Clock weather-display outage is established by these sources.
