Minecraft Dungeons II should now be playable on Steam Deck, but it is not yet fully Steam Deck verified. Mojang’s October 1, 2026 update says some issues may remain, including missing on-screen keyboard functionality. Start by updating the Steam game; then follow the steps for the specific problem you are seeing. Mojang has not published a universal crash or controller fix.
Minecraft Dungeons II won’t launch on Steam Deck
- Check for a game update. In Steam, open Library, select Minecraft Dungeons II, and install any available update. Mojang’s October 1, 2026 update said a Steam update should make the game playable on Deck. Read Mojang’s update.
- Launch the game again after the update completes. If it still will not start, note what happens: for example, whether the game closes immediately, gets stuck loading, or shows an error.
- Report a reproducible problem through the feedback and bug-report links in Mojang’s October 1 update. The official posts reviewed do not provide a confirmed launch setting, device-specific diagnosis, or general fix beyond updating.
Avoid treating file replacement, custom Proton builds, or launch-option changes as established fixes. Mojang’s cited support updates do not recommend them.

Why does Minecraft Dungeons II keep crashing on Steam Deck?
Mojang’s September 30, 2026 launch update said crash and stability hotfixes were in progress. That describes the situation at the time; it does not establish the cause of a crash on every current installation or guarantee that a particular hotfix resolves it. Read the launch update.

- Make sure Steam has installed the latest available game update.
- Try launching again and note when the crash occurs, such as during startup, loading, or gameplay.
- If the issue persists, send the details through Mojang’s official feedback or bug-report links. The available developer posts do not specify a universal setting change for crashes.
What to do if login or account linking fails
On September 30, Mojang said it had resolved most backend login and account-linking issues and asked affected players to try again. If your problem began during that launch-period incident, retrying may help. The dated update does not promise a fix for every login failure.

What if the Steam Deck on-screen keyboard does not appear?
Mojang’s October 1 update specifically warns that on-screen keyboard functionality may be missing and says further improvements toward full Steam Deck verification are planned. It does not document a software fix for the keyboard issue.
If you need to enter text, a compatible USB-C physical keyboard may serve as an optional workaround. This is a practical inference, not a tested or developer-endorsed fix; check that the keyboard works with your Deck. It will not address crashes, login failures, or controller recognition.

How to troubleshoot controller problems
The available official updates do not identify a general controller defect or publish controller-specific steps. One player-submitted report describes a change affecting that person’s native DualSense support and says enabling Steam Input worked in that case. It is an individual experience, not an official diagnosis or a confirmed fix for other players. View the player report.
- Check whether the problem affects the Steam Deck’s built-in controls, an external controller, or both.
- If you use an external controller, you can test your own Steam Input configuration, but do not assume a particular toggle will fix the issue.
- Report reproducible controller behavior through Mojang’s official feedback or bug-report links.
Steam Deck status and remaining limitations
Mojang’s status changed quickly after launch: its September 30, 2026 post said work on Deck support was ongoing, while its October 1 update said the game should now be playable on Steam Deck. The October 1 update also notes possible missing on-screen keyboard functionality and says more improvements are planned toward full verification. “Playable” should not be read as “fully Steam Deck verified.”
