If Microsoft Teams opens but keeps asking you to sign in, start by confirming you are using the right account and completing any verification prompt. Then note the error code shown in the sign-in window and use it to choose a targeted fix. Some problems can be addressed on your device; organization authorization, network policy, and many other sign-in failures need your IT administrator.
Start with the account and sign-in prompt
Teams uses Microsoft 365 credentials. Check that you are signing in with the work or school account—or personal account—that you intend to use in this Teams context. Your organization may also require an extra verification step, such as entering a code.

If Teams shows a sign-in or reauthentication banner, select it and complete the prompts. Microsoft describes this banner as a request to sign in again to regain access. If selecting it does not open a window, look for a Teams badge in the Windows taskbar notification area. You can quit Teams from its notification-area icon and reopen it to try the sign-in flow again. See Microsoft’s Restore your access to Microsoft Teams guidance.

When the sign-in window shows an error, note the status code at its bottom-left before trying fixes. Include the code and the exact error text in a request to your organization’s IT administrator. Microsoft Support says, “In many cases, only your IT admin or sysadmin will be able to resolve sign-in issues for you.” Its code list is not exhaustive, so an unlisted code is still useful diagnostic information. Choose the next step from the status code
Microsoft’s examples below separate checks you can try from issues that typically need IT investigation.

These are examples from Microsoft’s support guidance, not a complete list of every possible Teams sign-in failure.
When to stop troubleshooting and contact IT
Contact your organization’s IT administrator if the code points to authorization, proxy, firewall, DNS, or certificate configuration; if your credentials appear correct but are rejected; or if the code is not listed and the problem persists. Repeatedly changing settings without knowing what the code means can make diagnosis harder.

For unresolved cases, Microsoft’s administrator guidance includes a Teams Sign-in diagnostic, the Remote Connectivity Analyzer, checking the Teams version and updates, investigating the specific code, and reinstalling Teams in certain cases. Diagnostic tools have scope and environment limitations, so administrators should check Microsoft’s current notes before relying on a result.
