If images are missing from a Browserless screenshot, first separate three causes: the capture ran before images finished loading, lazy-loaded images never entered the viewport, or the image/page request failed or was blocked. For BAP, try waitForImages: true; for below-the-fold images, scroll through the page before capturing. Then check the target page and request filters rather than relying on a longer delay alone.
Choose the fix for the kind of image that is missing
| Symptom | Likely cause | First action |
|---|---|---|
| Images near the top are absent or incomplete | The capture ran before image loading completed. | For BAP, enable waitForImages: true, or wait for the important image/container selector. |
| Images below the fold are absent | Viewport-triggered lazy loading was not triggered. | Scroll through the document before taking a full-page capture. |
| Images remain broken after waiting and scrolling | The request may have failed, been filtered, or returned a blocked/error page. | Inspect the page and response, and check resource filters. |
Browserless documents waitForImages as false by default for BAP. Waiting for navigation and waiting for images are separate settings; one does not automatically guarantee the other.

Wait for images in the Browserless interface you use
BAP: wait for all images or one specific element
Set waitForImages: true in the BAP screenshot options when the capture should wait for page images broadly. If only one image matters, wait for that image or its container with waitForSelector() instead. A targeted selector can be more useful when unrelated images or other page activity make a broad wait unsuitable. See Browserless Screenshots and PDFs with BAP for the current interface details.

The REST screenshot API’s request configuration supports different navigation conditions. They answer different readiness questions:
#1 Best Overall
- CRISP CLARITY: This 23.8″ Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail
- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
domcontentloadedmeans the initial HTML has been parsed; it does not wait for images.loadwaits for dependent resources, including images.networkidle0waits for zero network connections for at least 500 ms.networkidle2allows up to two network connections for at least 500 ms.
Network-idle conditions observe overall network activity; they are not proof that a particular image rendered. Pages with continuing background requests can behave differently under these conditions. Use the REST API’s shared wait configuration according to the behavior you need, and consult Browserless Request Configuration for option names and semantics.
Trigger lazy-loaded images before a full-page capture
Many pages do not request below-the-fold images until those images approach the viewport. A full-page screenshot alone may not trigger that behavior. Scroll through the document first, then capture the full page:

- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- In BAP guidance, use
scroll({ throughPage: true })before the screenshot. - In the REST screenshot API, set
scrollPage: true.
Scrolling and waiting solve different problems: scrolling prompts viewport-based loading, while image or selector waits give requested content time to arrive. Combine them when the page needs both, and use full-page capture when the intended output includes content beyond the initial viewport. The REST API’s screenshot options are documented at Browserless Screenshot API.
Check that the image request and target page succeeded
Confirm the page contains the expected image
Open the target URL in a normal browser at the relevant viewport and confirm that the expected image is present. If it appears only after scrolling, treat it as a lazy-loading case. A final bitmap by itself does not establish whether Browserless failed or the target page served different content.

- Clear visuals. Fluid motion: A 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT deliver smooth, tear‑free motion across work, gaming, and streaming for clearer, more fluid viewing.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star* certification reduces harmful blue light while preserving stunning color quality without compromise. *TÜV Rheinland 3-star eye comfort certification.
- Wide viewing angle: Get consistent views across a wide 178° /178° viewing angle.
- In-Plane Switching (IPS): See excellent color accuracy and consistency across wide viewing angles with In-plane Switching (IPS) technology.
- Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.
Review resource rejection rules
Browserless can reject resource types or request patterns. Check rejectResourceTypes and rejectRequestPattern in your request configuration; a rule that rejects images or the image host can make them consistently absent. Configuration details are in Browserless Request Configuration.
Inspect for blocking or target-site errors
Look for CAPTCHA, access-denied/403, blank, or incomplete page content. A successful HTTP 200 does not guarantee that the target site returned the intended page; it can still contain an error. Browserless documents /unblock for bot-detection scenarios. See Browserless Unblock for its documented approach.

- CURVED FOR ENHANCED ENGAGEMENT: An immersive viewing experience with a curved monitor that wraps more closely around your field of vision; It creates a wider view, enhancing depth perception and minimizing peripheral distraction

Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you see | Likely explanation | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Image is present after navigation but missing in the screenshot | Capture occurred before the image completed loading. | For BAP, set waitForImages: true; for one key image, wait for its selector. In REST, use a suitable navigation condition such as load when dependent resources should finish. |
| Only images farther down the page are missing | Lazy loading was not triggered. | Scroll through the page using the interface’s supported option, then capture the full document. |
| Images are missing consistently across captures | A resource type or request pattern may be rejected. | Review image-related rejectResourceTypes and rejectRequestPattern rules. |
| Screenshot shows CAPTCHA, 403, blank content, or an error despite HTTP 200 | The target site may be blocking automation or returning an error page. | Inspect the page content and consider Browserless’s documented /unblock workflow for bot detection. |
| Capture times out | The page or its resources may not have reached the expected state within the available time. | Inspect page and image response state first; a longer timeout alone does not identify or fix the underlying cause. |
Use the right Browserless option names
Browserless has multiple screenshot interfaces, and their settings are not interchangeable by assumption. BAP uses waitForImages and its scrolling API; the REST screenshot endpoint uses top-level settings such as scrollPage and shared waiting configuration; BrowserQL exposes a waitForImages screenshot argument. Confirm the exact interface and version in the relevant documentation before copying an example between products. See Browserless BrowserQL Screenshot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does waiting for images also trigger lazy loading?
No. Waiting gives requested images time to load; below-the-fold lazy images may need scrolling to trigger their requests.
Does an HTTP 200 response prove the screenshot contains the intended page?
No. The response can be successful while the target page itself displays a CAPTCHA, access-denied message, or other error.
