How to Fix GrabzIt API Errors in a PHP Website Hosted in India

Use the GrabzItException code to trace PHP API failures from inputs and credentials through hosting-network timeouts, asynchronous processing, and local file permissions.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Start with the exact GrabzItException code and the operation that failed; the code is a better diagnostic starting point than parsing the human-readable message. Then check request inputs and credentials, outbound access from the hosting server, asynchronous status or callback handling, and finally local file permissions.

The documented timeout guidance points to a possible host firewall or network configuration problem. It does not establish a special India-wide GrabzIt API issue, so verify connectivity and any block with your own hosting provider.

Capture the exact error before changing settings

Catch \GrabzIt\GrabzItException and record its code, the failing operation, and sanitized request details. Never include the application secret or other credentials in logs. GrabzIt documents error codes that map to specific errors; its PHP example branches on named constants such as PARAMETER_NO_URL, rather than inspecting message text. See the GrabzIt PHP API reference for the exact constants and descriptions.

try {
    // Run the GrabzIt operation that is failing here.
} catch (\GrabzIt\GrabzItException $e) {
    error_log(sprintf(
        'GrabzIt operation failed; code=%s; message=%s',
        $e->getCode(),
        $e->getMessage()
    ));
    throw $e;
}

This example illustrates the exception capture pattern; insert your existing API operation in the marked location. In production, sanitize the message if it could contain request data, and do not log keys, secrets, or authorization values.

Use the code family to choose the next check

Code range Documented category Initial direction
100–199 Mostly parameter or configuration problems, including URL, key, signature, format, country code, callback URL, capture options, and other inputs. Compare each supplied value with the API reference and confirm required values are present and valid.
200–202 Server or network categories, including server offline, general network error, or DDoS-related error. Check reachability from the hosting server and whether the failure is temporary.
300–301 Rendering or missing-screenshot errors. Check the capture request and use the returned status/result information to distinguish processing from an error.
400 Generic error. Use the exact reference entry and surrounding operation details; the number alone does not identify a specific fix.
500 Upgrade required. Confirm the feature or request is supported by the account or API configuration.
600–601 File-save error or missing path. Check the destination path and the PHP process’s permissions.

These ranges summarize the official lookup table, not a substitute for it. Confirm the individual code and description on the PHP API reference before deciding whether to correct an input, retry, contact the host, or inspect local storage.

Check credentials, request values, and handler configuration

Confirm that the application key and secret belong to the intended GrabzIt application and environment, and that the code is using the current values rather than placeholders or credentials from another deployment. GrabzIt’s PHP demo guide directs developers to use their application credentials.

If the failing setup is a remotely hosted demo or uses a handler, verify that its handler URL is publicly reachable and points to the deployed GrabzItHandler.php location. A wrong or inaccessible handler can disrupt callback-based result handling even when the initial request is formed correctly.

Compare the SDK path with a direct REST request

A direct cURL request can help separate a PHP-library integration problem from credentials, URL, or server connectivity. GrabzIt’s demo documentation includes the REST route as an alternative to using the PHP library. Run the comparison from the same hosting server and use a valid request for your account; do not expose the secret in shell history, shared logs, or public issue reports.

curl -G "https://api.grabz.it/services/capture"
  --data-urlencode "url=https://example.com"
  --data-urlencode "key=YOUR_APPLICATION_KEY"
  --output capture.png

Use the parameter names and required values documented for your chosen REST operation; the abbreviated command is a diagnostic illustration, not a universal capture configuration. A successful direct request while the SDK path fails suggests investigating SDK installation or integration. If both fail from the same host, credentials, request values, and outbound connectivity remain possible causes. This comparison narrows the investigation but does not prove a single cause.

Investigate persistent GrabzIt API timeouts from the hosting server

If all requests time out, GrabzIt’s timeout guidance says a host firewall or network configuration is a likely cause and may have been applied automatically by the web host. Ask the provider whether outbound access to api.grabz.it is blocked; if it is, request that the specific access be unblocked. See GrabzIt’s API timeout guidance.

This is a host-level possibility, not evidence of an India-specific routing defect, country-level block, or regional outage. If your provider confirms a block, proxy, or filtering rule, record its exact finding for your server and account rather than generalizing it to other India-hosted sites.

Prefer asynchronous processing for work that takes time

GrabzIt recommends asynchronous communication for this situation. Its timeout article notes that one SaveTo call polls GrabzIt’s servers every three seconds, so a workflow that waits synchronously can generate repeated server calls. Follow the PHP API documentation for asynchronous status and result handling, and ensure a configured handler or callback URL is reachable from outside your server.

Separate remote capture status from local file saving

The PHP API reference documents GetStatus, GetResult, Save, and SaveTo. Status information includes Processing, Cached, Expired, and Message. Use the API’s documented status/result methods to determine whether the capture is still processing, ready or cached, expired, or has an error message; do not treat a local save failure as proof that remote processing failed.

If processing appears complete but saving to the server fails, check that the destination exists and that the PHP application can read and write it. GrabzIt’s PHP repository setup notes specifically call for read/write access to the results directory. See GrabzIt’s PHP API repository.

Handle SSL and proxy errors without weakening verification

The PHP reference documents UseSSL($value) and SetLocalProxy($proxyUrl), but the consulted documentation does not tie either setting to a particular SSL error or give safe values for Indian shared hosting. First capture the exact PHP, cURL, or TLS error. Ask the host to check its CA bundle, outbound TLS inspection, and proxy or firewall configuration. These are general host-side diagnostic checks, not GrabzIt-published India-specific requirements. Do not disable certificate verification as a blanket workaround.

Or skip the browser setup

If your task is to capture website screenshots rather than diagnose a GrabzIt integration, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API with a one-request flow. Its API accepts a URL and can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. The one-call cURL example below saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe; replace the URL and API key with your target and your own key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
  • Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off.
  • Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status.
  • An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents and MCP clients.
  • The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
