If Fortnite suddenly shows Level 1 or missing progress, first check that you’re signed into the Epic Games account that holds your progress. Fortnite progress is tied to that Epic account—not stored in a separate console profile—and linking another platform or Epic account will not merge two histories. Identify the right account before unlinking anything.
Why Fortnite progress may look missing
An empty account does not by itself mean your original progress was deleted. You may be signed into a different Epic account, your console may be linked to another Epic account, or the console may have been unlinked. If you skipped registration after unlinking, a new Epic account with no progress may have been created. Epic describes these possibilities in its account and progress troubleshooting guidance.

Find the account with your progress first
- Sign in to each Epic Games account you may have used.
- Check which account contains the Fortnite progress you want to keep accessible.
- Only after identifying it, check which Epic account your PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account is linked to.
If the console is linked to the wrong Epic account, Epic’s instructions are to unlink it and relink it to the account with your main progress. That changes which account the platform accesses; it does not transfer or combine the progress from the other account.
Fix the “You haven’t signed in on this account before” message
Start with Epic’s troubleshooting steps for this login error.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
- Sign in to the Epic Games account you intend to use.
- Open Linked accounts and check whether the PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account you are using appears there.
- If it is not listed, follow the platform-specific linking flow from the Epic account.
- If it is listed but the error continues, make sure the browser or game session is signed into the Epic account linked to that platform account.
- If you originally skipped account registration, complete the Epic account details associated with that automatically created account.
Resolve an “already linked” error
A PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account can be linked to only one Epic Games account at a time. Epic also allows only one account of each platform type on a given Epic account. See Epic’s console account linking guidance.
- If the platform account is already linked to another Epic account, identify that Epic account and make changes from the correct account.
- If Epic says a different account of that platform type was previously linked, its process requires removing the linking restriction. Epic says this restriction can be removed once every 365 days; it cannot be bypassed. The page does not state a publication year for this policy.
- Verify the platform account and Epic account you have selected before proceeding. If the wrong account is unlinked, you may lose access to the progress associated with it from that platform.
- If the account being unlinked has an active Fortnite Crew subscription, Epic advises canceling it first. That account will not receive new Crew rewards after unlinking.
Can you merge Fortnite progress from two accounts?
No. Epic Games Support states: “Epic Games Support cannot merge progress between accounts.” If you have progress on two Epic accounts, choose which account’s history you want to access across platforms and link your platforms to that account. Relinking does not move the other account’s progress. To retain access to both histories, keep the Epic accounts separate. Read Epic’s account-merging explanation.

Recover an account if you may have lost access
A sudden loss of access to an account that previously held your progress can indicate a security problem, not just a syncing issue. Follow Epic’s account recovery guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Secure the email account associated with Epic: change its password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA). If you cannot access the email, use its provider’s recovery process.
- Reset your Epic Games password.
- Try signing in to Epic through a console or social account already linked to it.
- If the Epic account’s email was changed to an address you do not control, or you still cannot regain access, submit an Epic account recovery request.
- After recovering the account, reset its password and enable 2FA.
Why V-Bucks may differ between platforms
A different V-Bucks balance does not necessarily mean account linking failed. Epic’s V-Bucks sharing guidance distinguishes purchased currency from earned currency:

| Earned through Fortnite Passes, Quest Packs, or Save the World | Shared across platforms. |
| Items bought with V-Bucks | Available on platforms linked to the same Epic Games account. |
When to contact Epic Support
If you have confirmed the Epic account with your progress and followed the relevant linking or relinking instructions but still cannot access that progress, contact Epic Support. Support can help with access and account issues, but Epic says it cannot merge Fortnite progress between Epic accounts.
