There is no confirmed Jio-specific FFmpeg or YouTube Live defect established by the available official guidance. Diagnose the failure by checking whether FFmpeg cannot start, the encoder stays healthy while YouTube reports interruptions, or the connection drops during sustained streaming. Then compare YouTube’s stream status with upload performance on the Jio connection at the affected place and time.
First identify where the stream is failing
Use the YouTube Live Control Room alongside FFmpeg’s output. The key distinction is whether the encoder is failing to send, or whether it appears healthy while the outbound connection or YouTube’s ingest reports trouble. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends checking encoder health and outbound internet when the encoder appears healthy.

- FFmpeg will not start: check the active stream key, ingest destination, protocol, and port.
- FFmpeg appears healthy, but YouTube shows interruptions: investigate upload capacity and stability on the Jio link.
- Drops cluster at certain times or places: repeat upload observations there and compare another connection if available. This pattern is a diagnostic clue, not proof of a Jio-wide cause.
Record the time of each failure and the status or metrics shown in YouTube Live. Viewer reports can help distinguish a problem limited to one shared network from a stream-wide issue, but they do not by themselves prove the broadcaster’s uplink is at fault.
If FFmpeg cannot start: verify the key and ingest settings
- In YouTube Live Control Room, obtain the current stream key if a third-party encoder is having trouble starting, then update FFmpeg with that active key. Do not share the key in logs, screenshots, or support posts.
- Check that the ingest server URL and protocol in your FFmpeg setup match the current YouTube live-stream setup. Do not rely on an old command copied from a third-party guide.
- If you use RTMPS and see an SSL error despite an apparently correct URL, check that you are connecting to the right port. Google describes RTMPS as RTMP sent through an SSL connection and notes the port as a possible cause of SSL errors. See the YouTube RTMPS ingestion guide.
FFmpeg documents RTMP as multimedia streaming over TCP/IP. Its protocol documentation also describes TCP keepalive as a way to detect dead peers. Keepalive is not automatic reconnection and does not guarantee that a disconnected YouTube stream will recover.

If the encoder stays healthy: measure Jio upload headroom
YouTube says the total stream bitrate cannot exceed the upload bandwidth available and recommends leaving 20% headroom. That is operational guidance, not a guarantee that a connection will remain stable. A disruption in connectivity can break a stream.
- Measure outbound upload on the Jio connection during the hours and at the location where drops occur. An idle speed test cannot establish that an intermittent mobile link will stay stable under streaming load.
- Compare the total stream bitrate with the upload capacity you observe. Leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom; for example, the available upload capacity should be at least 1.25 times the total stream bitrate to leave that margin.
- If upload capacity or stability fluctuates, lower the stream bitrate as a diagnostic and see whether interruptions change. If possible, compare Jio with Wi-Fi or another carrier at the same place and time, using the same bitrate.
YouTube’s network advice is explicit: “The total bitrate of your stream cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available.” Its separate recommendation is: “Have a reliable network: A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” These recommendations appear in YouTube Help; the reviewed page does not state a publication year.

Check Jio mobile-data settings and usage
Jio’s configuration checks can rule out basic settings problems, but they do not establish local signal quality, upload speed, or freedom from congestion.

- Put the Jio SIM in an LTE-enabled SIM slot.
- Route mobile internet through Jio and select LTE/4G.
- Confirm mobile data is enabled and the data limit is not disabling it.
- If roaming, enable mobile data while roaming for uninterrupted internet service during roaming.

Use a repeatable comparison before escalating
When comparing connections, keep the conditions as close as possible: same location and time, same stream bitrate, and the same YouTube Live status view. Compare sustained outbound upload and its variability, whether FFmpeg remains connected, and whether YouTube reports encoder or connection trouble. Another network can help isolate the problem, but the evidence does not identify a universally best Indian carrier or a device that fixes Jio upload instability.
- FFmpeg will not start: refresh the YouTube key and verify destination, protocol, and (for RTMPS SSL errors) port.
- FFmpeg appears healthy but YouTube reports interruptions: measure Jio upload during the stream and check the bitrate against available capacity with headroom.
- Drops vary with time, location, or movement: repeat observations under those conditions, check LTE/4G and mobile-data settings, and compare a different connection if one is available.
- The issue persists: retain timestamps, YouTube Live status or metrics, repeated upload observations, and FFmpeg version/build and exact error text. Redact the stream key before saving or sharing logs.
For an uplink problem, contact Jio through its slow mobile-internet support page and provide the time and location, network mode, repeated upload observations, and whether another connection works. For encoder or ingest evidence, use YouTube or FFmpeg support channels. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends examining encoder errors and outbound connectivity.
