Chrome’s ERR_CACHE_MISS message means the page needs information you entered earlier to be submitted again. It does not, by itself, mean your computer is damaged or that clearing the cache will fix the problem. First check the address, reload once, and see whether other websites load. If the page was handling an important form or transaction, check its status before submitting again.
What ERR_CACHE_MISS means
Google Chrome Help defines the message as: “The page needs information you entered earlier to be submitted again.” Chrome is indicating that the page may need previously entered information again; the message alone does not identify why it appeared or prove that a particular submission failed. Google’s explanation of common Chrome error messages
If the page involved a payment, order, booking, or other important submission, do not repeat it automatically. Check whether the action already completed, look for a confirmation, or contact the site if you cannot tell. The result of resubmitting depends on how that website handles the form.
Try the low-impact checks first
- Check the web address. Make sure the URL is correct, then click Chrome’s Reload button once.
- Check whether the problem is limited to one site. Open another website. If multiple sites fail, check your internet connection. If other sites work, focus on the affected page and its website.
- Try the page in an Incognito window. In Chrome, open the three-dot menu and choose New Incognito window, then enter the page address. Google recommends Incognito as a general page-loading check. If the page works there, investigate your regular profile’s extensions or site data; Incognito does not prove which one caused the issue. Google’s page-loading troubleshooting steps
Check extensions and available memory
If the page loads in Incognito but not in a regular window, an extension or profile-specific browser data may be involved. Review extensions you do not need and disable them temporarily one at a time, reloading the page after each change. If disabling an extension makes no difference, turn it back on before testing another.

Google also recommends closing unnecessary tabs and apps to free memory when pages will not load. After closing them, reload the affected page. These checks are less disruptive than deleting site data or resetting Chrome. Google’s page-loading troubleshooting steps
Clear cookies and cached files only if needed
Google’s general troubleshooting for pages that will not load includes clearing cookies and cached images or files. This may help with some browser-loading problems, but Google does not promise that it fixes every ERR_CACHE_MISS.

Deleting cookies can sign you out of websites and remove saved site preferences; cached files are stored copies of parts of pages. If you want to avoid affecting other sites, use the site-data controls in Chrome settings to remove data for the affected site rather than deleting all cookies. If several websites still fail, check the connection and whether other apps can access the internet. For persistent browser-wide problems, resetting Chrome settings is a later option: it changes settings, including cookies/site data and extensions. Google says a reset does not delete or change bookmarks or saved passwords. Google’s instructions for resetting Chrome settings

If only one site continues to show the error after the checks above, contact that site’s owner.
