If OBS’s network dropped frames counter is rising during a YouTube loop, first test the connection rather than changing encoder or rendering settings: connect the streaming computer to the router by Ethernet, run a representative test stream, and reduce OBS’s video bitrate until the connection can sustain it. A looped video still has to be sent continuously from OBS to YouTube, so it does not avoid upload instability. The exact cause could be Wi-Fi, bitrate, local network software, or a fault along the ISP route; the available information does not establish which BSNL service, plan, or line you have.
Confirm that the problem is network dropped frames
Check the OBS Stats panel or status bar while the loop is live. Network dropped frames indicate that the connection to the remote server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. OBS describes this as a network-delivery symptom and says it is extremely unlikely that OBS itself causes this class of drops.

Do not confuse this counter with rendering lag or encoder overload. If the network dropped-frame counter is the one increasing, start with the connection path and sustained upload capacity. If a rendering or encoding counter rises instead, these network fixes may not address the actual problem.

Run a test stream that resembles the real loop
Before relying on a continuous stream, test with audio and movement similar to the actual video. Watch both OBS’s dropped-frame counter and YouTube’s stream health and messages. Record when the drops happen and whether they are continuous or concentrated at particular hours. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and checking stream health while live.

- OneMesh Compatible Router - Form a seamless WiFi when work with TP-Link OneMesh WiFi Extenders
- Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 Technology – The Archer AX10 leverages advanced Wi-Fi 6 features like OFDMA and 1024-QAM to deliver improved efficiency across your entire network. Perfect for high-bandwidth activities like streaming, gaming, and smart home connectivity.
- Next-gen Dual Band router - 300 Mbps on 2. 4 GHz (802. 11n) plus 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz (802. 11ax)
- Connect more devices than ever before - Wi-Fi 6 technology simultaneously communicates more data to more devices using OFDMA and MU-MIMO while reducing lag dramatically
- Powerful Dual-Core 900MHz Processor – Handles multiple data streams simultaneously for reliable performance across your devices. Ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and video conferencing without buffering or lag.
A speed test is useful evidence, but a single result does not prove your line can sustain one continuous stream. OBS suggests using 75% of total upload speed as a starting point for bitrate; treat that as a heuristic, not a guarantee. Other household traffic and variations in upload performance can reduce the headroom available to OBS.
Remove Wi-Fi and basic hardware problems from the path
- Connect the streaming computer to the router with Ethernet if practical. OBS recommends a wired connection when Wi-Fi may be unstable. This test helps determine whether Wi-Fi is contributing; buying a cable is not a universal fix.
- Restart the modem and router, then repeat the representative test.
- If available, try a known-good spare Ethernet cable or router as an isolation test. Do not assume equipment is faulty until a comparison points to it.
Set OBS bitrate to match stable upload capacity
Lower the video bitrate in OBS in measured steps, then run comparable test streams and check whether the network dropped-frame counter stops rising. Keep the selected bitrate within YouTube’s published recommendation for your codec, resolution, and frame rate, while leaving room for upload fluctuations and other network use. YouTube’s recommendations describe encoder settings; they do not guarantee that a particular BSNL line can sustain them.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
| H.264 output | YouTube recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
These are YouTube encoder recommendations accessed in 2026, not measured BSNL upload speeds or minimums guaranteed for your connection. The bitrate that works for your stream depends on the stable upload available at the time. OBS’s 75%-of-total-upload suggestion is a starting point, not a substitute for testing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTest OBS network settings one at a time
- In OBS’s advanced network settings, leave Bind to IP at Default.
- Temporarily compare the default IPv4/IPv6 behavior with IPv4 Only. If IPv4 Only does not improve the result, restore the default IPv4/IPv6 setting.
- On Windows, test Enable network optimizations and TCP pacing, changing one setting at a time and repeating a similar test stream.
- Consider Dynamic Bitrate only as a fallback if the underlying connection problem cannot be resolved. It can reduce drops during congestion by lowering quality, but it does not fix the root cause.
Check software and the route to YouTube
- Temporarily test without a VPN. If the result changes, investigate the VPN path rather than assuming the broadband line itself is at fault.
- Check whether security software or bundled network-priority or “optimization” software interferes with OBS. Re-enable security protection after testing; add an OBS exception only if the test identifies the software as a cause.
- Update the network adapter driver from the computer or motherboard manufacturer.
- If OBS offers another YouTube ingest/server choice, compare it with the current choice while keeping other settings unchanged. A different result may help locate the issue but does not, by itself, prove who is responsible. Comparing another streaming service can also be a diagnostic test, not a definitive diagnosis.
Escalate persistent problems to BSNL with evidence
If drops continue over Ethernet at a reduced bitrate, contact BSNL and ask it to check line stability and the route during the affected times. BSNL’s listed broadband, Bharat Fiber, and landline care number is 1800-4444; its self-care portal also offers technical complaint booking. Support routes can vary by circle and service, so verify the correct contact and complaint route in your local account or portal.
