If a character, vehicle, crossover pack or other add-on is missing from Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, do not buy it again first. Check the account that owns it, confirm the platform has installed or enabled it, update the game, then check progression and mode restrictions. On a physical console copy, also match the disc region to the account region. These checks distinguish an entitlement problem from an installation, update or in-game availability problem.
The menu names differ between Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation and Xbox. Follow the section for the platform on which you play, and keep the game closed when a launcher or console asks you to reinstall an add-on. If all checks pass, collect your receipt or redemption evidence and contact SEGA or the platform support team rather than purchasing the content a second time.

Start with this order of checks
Missing downloadable content is easiest to fix when each layer is checked separately. Ownership and installation are not the same thing: a store can show that you own an add-on while the game files are absent, and a locally installed file cannot grant access to an item that was never redeemed on the account you are using.

Make sure the signed-in Steam, Epic, PlayStation Network, Xbox or Nintendo account is the one that purchased or redeemed the add-on.
- Prove the entitlement. Use the platform’s purchase, license or redemption history to find the DLC name.
- Check the platform’s DLC manager. If the entitlement is present but the add-on is disabled or missing locally, reinstall or enable it using the platform-specific path below.
- Check the game update. CrossWorlds requires its latest version for DLC access and for online modes such as World Match.
- Check in-game conditions. Some content appears only after tutorial or story progression, or only in a mode or menu where it can be used.
- Remove PC modifications temporarily. Mods and custom files can interfere with detection; restore a clean installation before testing again.
After each change, launch the game again and look in the relevant character, vehicle, pack or mode menu. Do not assume that a successful download automatically means the item is usable everywhere in the game.

Verify that the add-on belongs to the account
Steam: check licenses and product-key activations
SEGA’s general DLC troubleshooting instructions place Steam ownership information in the account page rather than in the game’s properties.
- Open the Steam launcher.
- Select your account name and open Account Details.
- Choose View licenses and product key activations.
- Search the list for the exact CrossWorlds add-on, pack or redemption you expect to see.
If the item is absent, verify that you are using the Steam account that made the purchase or entered the code. A family member’s account, a different Steam account or a code redeemed on another platform will not transfer the entitlement to the account currently running the game. If the license is listed, continue to Steam’s DLC installation check instead of purchasing again.
Epic Games Store: compare purchases and code redemptions
Epic separates ordinary purchases from redeemed codes, so inspect both areas.

- Go to Transactions.
- Review Purchases for a store transaction for the missing content.
- Review Code Redemptions for a promotional or manually entered code.
The add-on must be associated with the Epic account that launches CrossWorlds. A code can be valid yet appear unavailable if it was redeemed on a different Epic account. When the transaction or redemption is present, use Epic’s add-on manager to make the files available to the game.
Consoles: verify the purchasing profile
On PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo systems, check the purchase or redemption history for the profile that is signed in when CrossWorlds starts. If several profiles share a console, switch to the profile that owns the DLC and confirm that the game is being launched under that profile. Ownership recorded on another platform is not proof of console entitlement; the add-on must be tied to the store account for the platform on which you are playing.

For a physical copy, record the game disc’s regional rating or market before troubleshooting further. Region mismatches can block both paid and free add-ons even when the store transaction itself was successful.
Install or reinstall the DLC through the platform
Steam: toggle the add-on in Properties
- Open Library in Steam.
- Right-click Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and select Properties.
- Open the DLC section.
- Find the missing add-on. If it is selected, clear the checkbox, wait for Steam to apply the change, then select it again.
- Allow Steam to finish downloading or validating the content before starting the game.
SEGA specifically recommends unchecking and rechecking the add-on to trigger a reinstall. If the DLC does not appear in the DLC list at all, return to the license check: Steam cannot install an item that is not recognized on the current account.

Epic Games Store: use Manage Add-Ons
- Open your Epic Library.
- Find CrossWorlds and select its three-dot menu.
- Choose Manage Add-Ons.
- Move the slider for the missing DLC off, wait for Epic to process the change, and move it back on.
- Wait for the download or installation to complete, then relaunch the game.
Epic may not show Manage Add-Ons until the game is installed or an update is pending. Install or update CrossWorlds first, reopen the three-dot menu and check again. If the control still does not appear, confirm the transaction or redemption in the Epic account page and contact Epic or SEGA with that evidence.
PlayStation 4: install from the game’s store page
- Highlight CrossWorlds on the PS4 home screen.
- Scroll to PlayStation Store.
- Select the relevant add-on.
- Choose the install or download option if it is not already installed.
- Wait until the download completes, then start the game.
The store page can show an add-on as owned even when the local installation is incomplete. A completed download is required before CrossWorlds can load the content.
PlayStation 5: manage game content and relaunch
- Highlight CrossWorlds on the PS5 home screen.
- Press the Options button.
- Choose Manage game content.
- Locate the missing DLC and select Download.
- Wait for the download to finish completely.
- Relaunch CrossWorlds.
The relaunch matters because the game may not rescan add-on files while it is already running. If Manage game content lists the item as installed, proceed to the update and in-game availability checks.

Xbox: distinguish installable items from automatic add-ons
- Open My games & apps.
- Highlight CrossWorlds and press the Menu button.
- Choose Manage game and add-ons.
- Select Manage installation.
- Under the installable items list, select the missing DLC and apply the installation.
Xbox can place owned content under More add-ons. Those entries are owned but not manually installable; they become accessible automatically in the game. Do not keep trying to install an item that Xbox identifies as a More add-ons entitlement. Instead, update the game, relaunch it and check the appropriate in-game menu.
Nintendo systems: confirm entitlement and the current game version
The supplied SEGA instructions identify the CrossWorlds update requirement but do not provide a universal Nintendo menu path. Use the Nintendo account that bought or redeemed the item, verify the add-on in that account’s eShop history, and install any available game or DLC update through the console’s normal software-management screens. If the entitlement is present but the pack remains absent after the current update is installed, keep the account and purchase evidence for SEGA support. The Switch 2 Upgrade Pack has a separate Werehog-code process described below.
Check physical-copy and account-region compatibility
Region is a separate issue from ownership. SEGA warns that a physical game disc and the account used to obtain DLC can be from different regions. In that situation, a paid or free add-on may fail to work even though the store shows a completed purchase.
- Compare the region indicated by the disc’s packaging or regional rating with the country or region set on the purchasing account.
- Confirm that the DLC was bought for the same regional version of CrossWorlds as the disc.
- If the regions do not match, stop reinstalling the same files; the mismatch may be the cause.
SEGA’s guidance is to request a DLC refund or obtain the physical game version for the account’s region when this mismatch prevents access. A refund is not guaranteed because the platform’s own refund policy applies. Do not buy another copy until you have established which regional version the account and disc support.
Install the latest CrossWorlds update
SEGA’s CrossWorlds update notice dated 2026-10-08 states: “You must update to the latest version of the game to play online modes like World Match and access DLC.” The notice listed Ver.1.4.3 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam and Epic Games Store.

Version numbers can change after that notice. Treat 1.4.3 as the version identified in that dated announcement, not as a permanent requirement. Open your platform’s update screen and install the newest version it offers. On PC, let Steam or Epic finish patching before launching. On consoles, wait for the update and any queued DLC download to complete. Then close and relaunch CrossWorlds so it can load the updated entitlement data.
If you are trying to use the missing content in World Match or another online mode, an outdated client can explain both symptoms at once: the mode may be unavailable and the DLC may not be recognized. Updating is therefore required even when the add-on files appear to be installed.

Not every owned item appears immediately in every menu. SEGA’s general DLC guidance identifies three in-game conditions that can delay access:
- Tutorial completion: finish the tutorial if the game has not yet enabled the relevant garage, character or vehicle features.
- Progression: reach the part of the game where that type of content becomes usable.
- Mode or location: switch to the menu, race type or other part of CrossWorlds in which the add-on is designed to function.
For example, an owned vehicle may not appear in a mode that does not permit vehicles of that type, and a character pack may be listed in a roster rather than in a general DLC screen. Check the content’s intended menu after completing the tutorial and any clearly indicated early progression. Do not treat absence from one mode as proof that the entitlement failed.

Mods and other custom files can interfere with DLC detection or alter the menus in which content is displayed. On Steam or Epic, close CrossWorlds, move third-party modifications and custom files out of the game installation, and launch a clean copy. Test the DLC before restoring anything. If the add-on appears in the clean installation, add modifications back one at a time to identify the conflict. Keep a backup of custom files rather than deleting them permanently.
Special case: Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade Pack and the Werehog code
SEGA’s notice updated 2026-01-08 covers a narrow eligibility window, not a general repair for every missing Werehog or crossover pack. Customers who bought the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack between 2025-12-03 and 2025-12-17 are entitled to a free Werehog DLC Pack code under that offer.
If you fall within that exact purchase window and did not receive the code, submit a SEGA support request with:
- the date of purchase;
- the region of the Nintendo account; and
- proof of purchase.
If your purchase was outside those dates, this exception does not establish eligibility. Use the ordinary entitlement, installation, update and progression checks instead. Likewise, owning a different Werehog product or a separate crossover pack does not automatically qualify for the Upgrade Pack code process.

What to send to support when the checks fail
Contact SEGA or the relevant platform support team only after confirming the entitlement, installation state, game version and in-game conditions. Include enough detail for the agent to distinguish a missing license from a delivery or compatibility problem:
- the platform and hardware model, such as PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Steam or Epic;
- the account or store transaction and, for a redeemed item, the redemption record;
- the exact DLC, character, vehicle or crossover pack name;
- the installed CrossWorlds version and the date you checked for updates;
- whether the copy is physical or digital, plus the disc and account regions when applicable;
- the platform menu’s status, such as installed, owned, More add-ons or unavailable;
- the progression or mode in which you expected the item to appear; and
- the steps already attempted, including a reinstall toggle, relaunch, update and clean PC test.
For the Switch 2 Upgrade Pack Werehog exception, add the purchase date, Nintendo account region and proof of purchase specifically requested in SEGA’s notice. Screenshots of the transaction and platform DLC page can make the ownership and installation state clear, but redact payment details and security information.
Prevent an unnecessary second purchase
Before buying a replacement pack, verify three independent facts: the store account owns the exact add-on, the platform has installed or enabled it, and the current CrossWorlds version can access it. If any one of those facts is unknown, another purchase may simply create a second entitlement on the wrong account or region. The platform and game support teams can investigate a transaction or code more effectively when you provide the original receipt and the exact account history.
