Most cases come down to role/eligibility, syncing delays, or a stale client cache that prevents badges and status icons from rendering.
This guide walks through the fixes that reliably work in 2024—starting with the fastest checks and then moving into cache resets, app updates, and cross-platform verification.

What the Discord Crown Usually Means (So You Know What You’re Fixing)
“Crown” can refer to different indicators depending on where you’re expecting it to appear (server UI vs your profile). The two most common are:
- Server Owner (a crown icon shown next to your name in that server).
- Boost-related badge (a crown/badge style indicator connected to Discord server boosting, depending on how it’s displayed in that context).
If you’re not seeing a crown in one place (like a single server) but it appears elsewhere, that’s a strong sign your issue is server-specific—usually permissions, ownership transfer, or badge eligibility timing.

Quick Checks (Common Reasons It Disappears)
- Wrong server: The crown may only apply to one server where you’re owner/eligible.
- Role changed: If you were demoted (or ownership transferred), the crown can vanish immediately.
- Boost lag: Badge/crown visuals tied to boosts can take time to reflect after enabling/renewing.
- Client sync issue: A stale Discord client can fail to render server badges until refresh/reinstall.
Before changing anything, confirm exactly where you expect the crown (server member list, your profile, or another view).
Fix #1: Confirm Your Server Owner/Role Status
If the crown you want is the server owner crown, it’s tied to ownership—not Nitro, not cosmetics, and not general profile settings.
On the server, verify your role
- Open Discord (desktop app or web).
- Go to the server where the crown should appear.
- Open the Members list.
- Find your username and check whether a crown icon appears next to your name.
- If it’s missing, it likely means you’re not the owner anymore.
If you’re not the owner
Ask the owner/admin to double-check server ownership and roles. If they transferred ownership, you can’t “force” the crown to return—only the current owner can.

Fix #2: Verify Boosting and Badge Eligibility
If your crown is tied to boosting/badges, it depends on your current boost status and whether the server is actively boosted.
Check your boost and the server’s boost status
- Open the server where the crown should show.
- Open Server Settings (gear icon) if you have access; otherwise ask the owner to check.
- Find Boost / Boosts information.
- Confirm the server is currently boosted and your account is included as a booster (or that you meet the relevant eligibility conditions).
- If you just boosted recently, wait a few minutes and then refresh the client (see Fix #3).
If you’re certain you’re eligible but it still won’t show, move to client sync/cache fixes.

Fix #3: Refresh and Force Re-sync the Discord Client
Most “not showing” badge issues improve after forcing Discord to re-sync your session and UI state.
Fast refresh steps
- On desktop: press Ctrl + R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + R (macOS) if you’re using Discord web in a browser; if you’re in the app, use the in-app restart instead.
- Completely close Discord (not just minimize).
- Reopen Discord and check the server member list again.
- If it still fails, sign out and sign back in.
If the crown appears after a restart, you were dealing with a temporary render/sync issue.
Fix #4: Update Discord to the Latest Build (2024)
Badge rendering and permission-related UI can break on outdated clients. In 2024, always confirm you’re on the newest Discord release for your device.
Update on each platform
- Windows/macOS/Linux (Desktop app): Open Discord, let it check for updates, then restart when prompted.
- iPhone/iPad (iOS): Open the App Store > Updates and update Discord.
- Android: Open Google Play Store > Manage apps > Updates.
If Discord can’t update (permission errors, stuck downloads), try reinstalling (Fix #8).
Fix #5: Clear Cache / Reset Client Data
Stale cache is one of the most common causes of missing icons. Clearing it forces Discord to rebuild UI assets and re-fetch badge data.
Rank #3
- Unleash more fun chatting and hanging out with friends on Discord with Nitro!
- Get access to all Nitro perks, including HD streaming, custom emojis, bigger file uploads, and more.
- A great gift for yourself and your favorite folks on Discord. Nitro gift card codes are easy to use and never expire.

Windows (Discord desktop)
- Close Discord fully.
- Press Win + R, type
%appdata%, press Enter. - Open the Discord folder (commonly under Discord).
- Delete the Cache folder (or the contents inside cache-related directories).
- Reopen Discord and re-check the crown.
macOS (Discord desktop)
- Quit Discord.
- Open Finder > Go > Go to Folder.
- Paste
~/Library/Application Support/discordand press Enter. - Delete the Cache folder (or cache contents).
- Reopen Discord.
If cache clearing helps, it’s a strong sign the issue wasn’t eligibility—it was client rendering.

Fix #6: Test Across Platforms (Web vs Desktop vs Mobile)
When you test the crown on multiple platforms, you can quickly pinpoint where the problem is. If it works on web but not desktop, your desktop cache is likely the culprit.
Platform: Discord Web (browser)
Use Discord on the web to bypass desktop/mobile caching layers and confirm whether the crown badge state is correct server-side.
- Open your browser and go to discord.com.
- Log in to your account.
- Open the server and check the member list or profile area.
- Compare visibility with your desktop app.
Platform: Windows/macOS Desktop app
If web shows the crown but desktop doesn’t, clear cache (Fix #5) or reinstall (Fix #8).
- Restart Discord.
- Check if the icon appears in the same UI area.
- Then clear cache.
Platform: iPhone/iPad (iOS app)
Mobile can cache badge assets too. Confirm it on iOS before assuming it’s an eligibility problem.

Platform: Android app
Android has similar caching behavior. If crown is missing only on Android, clear cache via app settings or reinstall.
- Open Discord.
- Go to the server and check the crown location.
- Force stop Discord in Android settings, then reopen.
Fix #7: Check Profile, Privacy, and Badge Display Options
Some users expect the crown to show everywhere. In practice, Discord may display badges based on context, server permissions, or UI filters.
What to check
- Correct server context: A crown shown in one server doesn’t automatically appear in all servers.
- Member list view: The crown may appear in the member list but not in certain custom server views.
- User identity mismatch: If you use multiple accounts, verify you’re logged into the right one.
- Muted/showed icons: Rare UI toggles or theme issues can hide icons; try switching to default theme if available.
If you’re using multiple Discord accounts, confirm the crown doesn’t show on one account but does on another.

If cache clearing and updates don’t help, a clean reinstall usually resets corrupted assets and client state.
Windows
- Uninstall Discord from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Reboot the PC.
- Install the latest Discord from the official site.
- Log in and check the crown again.
macOS
- Move Discord to Trash.
- Optionally remove leftover cache folders under
~/Library/Application Support/discord(only if you’re comfortable). - Reinstall Discord.
- Sign in and test.
iOS/Android
- Delete Discord from the home screen.
- Reinstall from App Store/Google Play.
- Log in and check the server.
If reinstall fixes it, you were almost certainly dealing with a corrupted UI asset cache.

Common Mistakes and Gotchas
- Assuming the crown is global: Many crown-style indicators are server-specific.
- Expecting immediate badge updates after boosting: Even when eligible, visuals can lag for a short time.
- Changing roles but checking the wrong view: Always re-check the member list where the icon normally renders.
- Multiple accounts: The most frequent “it still doesn’t show” cause is logging into the wrong Discord account.
- Third-party modded clients: Unsupported clients can break badge rendering and may be banned. Use the official Discord app/web.
Troubleshooting Matrix (What to Try Based on Symptoms)
| Symptom | Most likely cause | Try this first |
|---|---|---|
| Crown missing only on one server | Ownership/role not set for that server | Verify server owner/role and badge eligibility (Fix #1 / #2) |
| Crown missing on desktop but shows on web | Desktop cache/render issue | Clear cache (Fix #5) then restart (Fix #3) |
| Crown missing everywhere, including web | Eligibility not met or sync delay | Confirm ownership/boost status; then sign out/in and wait briefly (Fix #3) |
| Crown missing on mobile only | Mobile cache or outdated build | Update app + force close, then reinstall if needed (Fix #4 / #8) |
| Nothing changes after restarts | Corrupted client state | Clear cache; reinstall Discord (Fix #5 / #8) |
FAQs
Why don’t I have a crown even though I boosted?
Boosting doesn’t always translate to the same crown indicator in every UI location. Confirm the server is actively boosted by your account, and check the member list area where badges render.
I was the owner yesterday—why is the crown gone?
Server ownership can be transferred by the current owner. If ownership moved or your access was changed, the crown will disappear right away.
How long does it take for the crown/badge to show after I boosted?
Often it updates within minutes, but short delays can happen due to sync. If it still doesn’t appear after restarting and re-checking web, proceed with cache clearing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDoes clearing cache remove my messages or account?
No. Cache clearing removes locally stored UI assets and temporary data. Your account and messages remain on Discord’s servers.
What if my crown shows on web but not in the desktop app?
That’s classic stale cache. Clear the desktop cache (Fix #5), update the app (Fix #4), and test again after a full restart.
Bottom Line
Start by confirming what the crown represents in your case: server ownership, a boost-related badge, or a server-specific indicator. Then use the fastest sync fixes (restart/sign out), followed by cache clearing and cross-platform testing.
If the crown still doesn’t show after updates and cache resets, a clean reinstall is the most reliable last step in 2024.
