If DEATHLOOP keeps crashing on your PC, check the game’s requirements, update Windows and your graphics driver, then verify the game files before trying more specific changes. No single fix is guaranteed: the right next step depends on whether the game fails to launch or crashes during play.
First, identify when the crash happens
Note whether DEATHLOOP closes before reaching the main menu, crashes while loading or playing, or shows an error message. Record the exact wording of any error and whether the failure happens consistently or intermittently. These details help support staff diagnose the issue; they do not by themselves establish a cause.

Check that your PC meets the published minimum requirements
Bethesda’s DEATHLOOP FAQ, dated September 20, 2022, lists Windows 10 version 1909 or later, 12 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1060 with 6 GB or AMD RX 580 with 8 GB, DirectX 12, and 38 GB of available storage as minimum PC requirements. The Steam DEATHLOOP listing also lists 12 GB RAM and a GTX 1060 6 GB or RX 580 8 GB as minimums.

Falling below a minimum is relevant, but it does not prove that hardware is the cause of a particular crash. Check before considering an upgrade.

Apply the basic Windows and driver checks
- Install available Windows updates. Restart the PC after updating so pending changes are applied.
- Update your graphics driver. Get the current driver from the official NVIDIA or AMD support channel for your graphics card. Bethesda’s driver version guidance can change, so consult its current DEATHLOOP crash-support article rather than relying on an old version number.
- Close unnecessary background programs. Then restart Steam and try the game again. This reduces the number of software variables while troubleshooting.
Verify the game files in Steam
If your copy is installed through Steam, use the current Steam client path: Library → DEATHLOOP → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Some older support instructions call this “Local Files”; Steam’s label may vary by client version. Let the check finish, then launch the game again.
Try administrator permissions
Bethesda’s support checklist advises testing administrator permissions for the game executable or Steam. Close the game first, then use Windows’ right-click menu on the relevant executable or Steam shortcut and select Run as administrator. If this changes the behavior, note that result; if it does not, continue with the other checks rather than treating administrator mode as a guaranteed fix.

Check DirectX, Visual C++ and antivirus settings
Bethesda recommends installing the latest DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables, and checking whether antivirus software is blocking the game. Use Microsoft’s official download pages for runtime components. If you review an antivirus block or add an exclusion, use the actual DEATHLOOP installation folder for your library; the default Steam folder may not match your setup. Avoid disabling antivirus protection altogether.

Bethesda Support says some players have prevented crashes by changing V-Sync options, while warning that the workaround may not help everyone and may affect performance. As a test, turn V-Sync off in DEATHLOOP’s in-game settings and turn it on in your graphics-card settings. If performance worsens or the crash remains, restore your previous settings.

Contact Bethesda Support if the crashes continue
If the checks above do not resolve the issue, Bethesda recommends contacting support and providing DxDiag and MsInfo diagnostics. Include when the crash occurs, what you were doing immediately beforehand, the exact error text if one appears, and the storefront you use. These details give support a clearer starting point without assuming a cause.
