Check whether one game or app is affected or all downloads, note any error code, and distinguish a game or app installation from a console system update. Then follow the branch for your device.
First, identify the device and the scope of the problem
“Xbox download stuck” can describe a console game install, an Xbox app download on Windows, a Microsoft Store install, or a console system update. The fix for one is not necessarily relevant to another.

- Device: Are you using an Xbox One or Xbox Series console, or a Windows 10/11 PC?
- Affected downloads: Is one title stuck, or do multiple games and apps fail?
- Type: Is this a game or app installation, or an Xbox system update?
- Error: Record the exact error code or message, if one appears.
If several downloads fail at once, check the live Xbox Support system updates page or the relevant Xbox Support page for your issue. Service availability can change; this guide does not establish whether Xbox services are currently experiencing an outage.
Windows PC: troubleshoot the Xbox app and Microsoft Store
On a PC, first determine whether the problem is limited to the Xbox app or whether Microsoft Store downloads generally fail. Microsoft’s Store guidance applies to Store installation issues; it is not a set of instructions for an Xbox console.

If Windows was recently updated, restart before retrying
Microsoft says a restart may be needed after recently installed Windows updates before you install an app from Microsoft Store. Restart the PC, then try the installation again. Microsoft’s Store installation guidance covers this and related installation problems.
If a Store app will not install or is not working properly
Follow Microsoft’s current Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store guidance for app repair, reset, and related troubleshooting. The specific options available can depend on the app and Windows version, so use the instructions shown for your system rather than applying console steps to the PC.

If Microsoft Store downloads fail broadly
A failed Store download is not automatically an Xbox Network problem. Microsoft notes that Microsoft Store may need Windows Update endpoints to be accessible to install or update apps. If multiple Store downloads fail, use Microsoft’s Microsoft Store app download failure checklist to investigate Store and Windows Update connectivity.
If the message names Gaming Services
Check both the exact error code and the Windows version before following a Gaming Services fix. Microsoft KB5004327 addresses errors 0x80073D26 and 0x8007139F in a Windows 10-specific context; it is not a universal fix for every Xbox app installation problem or for Windows 11. Xbox console: use guidance for your console and exact error
For an Xbox download stuck, an installation stopped message, or an update that will not download on the console, consult current Xbox Support instructions for your console and the exact error code. Microsoft routes console game and app installation problems to Xbox Support, and system-update issues have their own support guidance. The available support material here does not establish a reliable generic sequence of queue cancellation, power cycling, storage moves, or console reset steps, so do not treat any of those as a universal official fix.
Start with Xbox Support’s system updates page for a system-update problem, or use Xbox Support’s relevant game or app installation and error-code guidance for an installation problem. Follow instructions for your console model and the specific symptom rather than using Windows Store steps.

Before contacting support, collect details that help distinguish a title-specific fault from a broader device or service issue:

- The exact error code and message, if shown.
- Whether other downloads work on the same device.
- The available storage shown on the device.
- The troubleshooting steps already attempted.
