Start by identifying what is failing: a built-in app, an HDMI device, live TV, the picture, or the sound. Then check whether the problem affects one source or several, and whether it is constant or intermittent. Those clues help separate a TV setting or connection issue from a problem with the source device, network, antenna, or signal.
Hisense’s U.S. product page identifies model 65E7SF as an E7 Series Hi-QLED MiniLED 4K Fire TV, but that is only a possible match for the name “E7 Cinema Series.” Check your TV’s model number on its rear label or product information screen before following menu-specific directions, and use the manual for your exact model and region. The steps below draw on Hisense’s North America MT9612 NA E-Manual, which may not match every E7 variant.

First, identify which part of the TV setup is failing
Before changing settings, note the affected source and the pattern of the fault. Hisense’s manual treats external HDMI sources, network access, broadcast TV, picture, sound, apps, and HDMI-CEC as separate troubleshooting areas.

- Built-in streaming apps: Check the network, then whether the problem is limited to one app.
- Live antenna or cable TV: Check the signal cable and channel scan.
- Several sources: Look for a TV-wide setting, power, or output issue rather than assuming a single cable is at fault.
- Intermittent versus constant: A fault that comes and goes may point to a loose connection or weak signal; record when it happens before troubleshooting.
Menu names and available options vary by model, region, and connected equipment. The manual cited here is a 2023 North American MT9612 guide, not an established manual for every E7 Cinema Series television.

Why does an HDMI device show no picture or sound?
- Make sure the external device is powered on and the HDMI cable is firmly connected at both ends.
- Select the TV input that matches the HDMI port being used.
- If the signal drops in and out, unplug the TV from AC power, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect it. Hisense’s manual says: “If the signal is intermittent, unplug the TV power cord from AC outlet and re-plug after 60 seconds.”
- If there is still no signal, test another HDMI port and a known-good HDMI cable. With the source selected, check the TV’s HDMI Format setting if it is available on your model.
Replace a cable only if these checks point to a cable or connection problem. Hisense’s manual does not call for a particular brand, premium cable, or HDMI version.
How can I troubleshoot a blurry, flickering, or wavy picture?
For a blurry or flickering image, the MT9612 manual suggests adjusting Sharpness. If you use an external antenna, check its direction, position, and connection; weak reception or compressed signal can also make the picture look distorted.

A wavy picture may be affected by nearby electrical appliances or the power outlet. Because the manual may not match your set, confirm its model before following a particular menu path.

Why is there no sound from the TV speakers or soundbar?
- Check that the TV is not muted and that its volume is turned up.
- If the picture comes from a cable, satellite, DVD, or Blu-ray device, check that device’s volume as well.
- If you want sound through the TV’s own speakers, confirm that TV Speaker is selected.
- For a receiver or soundbar, check that the TV is set to ARC when the device is connected to the ARC port. If you use optical audio, make sure that connection is secure.
- If sound is still absent, try an available Digital Audio Out option such as Auto, Pass Through, PCM, Dolby Digital, or Dolby Digital Plus. The available modes depend on the TV and the connected equipment.
What should I do if Wi-Fi or a streaming app is not working?
The TV will not connect to the network
Check the TV’s network status, confirm that the wireless router is powered on, and verify that the internet service is working. If the wireless signal is weak, Hisense recommends moving the router or access point to a central location instead of leaving it in a corner. For continuing connection failures, the manual advises checking the network and contacting your internet provider.

The network works, but an app does not
Check whether the issue affects just one app. For Netflix, the MT9612 manual recommends force-stopping and reopening the app, then restarting the TV if needed. Other models or apps may use different controls.
How do I fix no signal or missing channels on live TV?
- Check that the antenna cable is connected to the correct port and is not loose or disconnected.
- If reception is intermittent, disconnect and reconnect the antenna cable.
- Try scanning for channels again or restarting the TV.
Channel-scan controls and broadcast menus vary by region. Use the manual for your exact regional model when locating them.

Why does HDMI-CEC control fail?
First confirm that the connected device supports HDMI-CEC and that its power and HDMI cables are properly connected. HDMI control must also be enabled on both the TV and the connected device. Hisense notes that CEC behavior can vary by device, so one control feature failing does not by itself show that the TV is defective.
When should I check firmware or contact Hisense?
If source, connection, and setting checks do not resolve the problem, look up firmware through Hisense USA’s firmware lookup using the TV’s serial number. Install only firmware intended for your exact model and region. The U.S. product page also links to support, parts and accessories, and firmware resources. In the UK, Hisense UK support accepts a model number, serial number, article number, or AUID for troubleshooting intake.
