Refresh session cookies instead when the issue is an expired login, and test the updated robot before relying on scheduled runs.
Diagnose why the robot failed before retraining
A redesign is a likely cause, but not the only one. Open the failed task and review its error details alongside the page state the robot encountered. Browse AI lists changed layouts, class names, or HTML; expired login sessions; new CAPTCHA or bot-detection measures; changes to content loading such as lazy loading or AJAX; and temporary problems at the target site as possible causes. - The page loads, but fields are missing or wrong: check whether the redesign moved, renamed, or reshaped the data. Retraining is generally the relevant fix.
- The robot reaches a login screen or loses account-only content: the session may have expired; refresh its session cookies.
- The page presents a CAPTCHA, security check, or access block: this is not simply a selector problem. Avoid assuming retraining will bypass a site’s security measures.
- The page is blank, incomplete, or still loading: investigate a site outage or changed loading behavior before editing selections.
Changing-sites guidance also warns that authentication changes, security measures, cookie-consent variations, complex JavaScript applications, and A/B tests can affect reliability. Significant structural changes may need manual robot adjustments; adaptation is not guaranteed to happen without intervention. Browse AI’s help article identifies retraining as its most effective solution when website structure changes. Choose the editor based on how the robot works. The exact labels below are those documented in Browse AI’s retraining guide; interface labels can change.

Use Table Studio for straightforward extraction
Choose Table Studio if the robot does not click, type, or log in with a password. Open the robot’s table, add or adjust the column for the data you need, use Design Mode to describe the data, preview the extraction, and save the robot once the result is correct.
Use Robot Studio for interactions or password login
- Open the robot’s detail page and go to Settings.
- Select Re-train robot, then choose Robot Studio.
- Update the data selections or field names to match the redesigned page, and finish recording the robot’s actions.
- Review the extraction. Save only when the fields and values are correct.
Choose the Chrome extension when applicable
If the robot was originally trained with Browse AI’s Chrome extension, select the extension option when retraining. Browse AI’s failure guidance also suggests trying the extension if Robot Studio gets stuck or prompts you to retry.

Refresh session cookies if the problem is account access
For a robot that needs a logged-in page, expired session cookies can make it fail even when the page redesign is not the root cause. Open the robot’s Settings, choose Update Session Cookies, follow the refresh steps, and test access again. Browse AI describes this remedy in its failure guide.

A cookie-consent banner can also make training brittle: it may move, disappear depending on region, change design, or vary in A/B tests. If the banner does not block the data you need, train without clicking it so the robot does not depend on that control. For account-based access, Browse AI recommends logging in in the browser and using its session-cookie login option during training. Verify the output and downstream workflows
- Run a test task after retraining or refreshing cookies.
- Check that the robot captured the intended fields and that the values make sense—not merely that the task completed.
- If the redesign changed multiple fields or the data structure, update each affected capture and review integrations that depend on the old output.
- Once the test is sound, confirm that scheduled runs use the updated configuration.
Browse AI says successful retraining preserves the robot’s history, prior runs, and associated workflows, while scheduled runs use the new settings. That does not remove the need to verify downstream systems if field names or output shape changed.

When to contact Browse AI support
Escalate if a custom robot still fails after retraining, if it needs retraining more than once a month, or if you are unsure how to make its training more resilient. Browse AI asks users to contact support when a prebuilt robot fails. Include the failed task details, what the page now shows, which workflow you tried, and the test result so the issue is easier to diagnose.
Reduce the chance of another surprise failure
Browse AI recommends choosing multiple example elements when training, testing thoroughly before scheduled monitoring, reviewing failure notifications promptly, and checking usage reports. These practices help when a site varies its structure or content.

Browse AI’s monitoring feature can track captured text, lists, or HTML, as well as visual changes through screenshot monitoring. Monitors can run on configurable schedules and send email notifications. Monitoring can surface change, but it does not guarantee a robot will keep working through a redesign.
