For an existing pairing that will not reconnect, forget the old headphone entry on the source device and pair again. For dropouts, try disabling HiRes or Lossless audio in the app when you are in a crowded wireless environment.
Check that the headphones are on
MOMENTUM 5 Wireless does not switch itself on automatically. Press the headphone button to turn it on before troubleshooting Bluetooth. The headphones also switch off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity; after that, turn them on manually again.

Pair MOMENTUM 5 Wireless with a device
Pair for the first time
- Press the headphone button once to switch on the headphones. On first startup, they automatically enter pairing mode.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your phone, computer, or other source device and choose the option to search for or add a device.
- Select MOMENTUM 5 Wireless from the available devices and complete any confirmation shown on the source device.
Pair a second device
- Press and hold the headphone power button for five seconds, until you hear an audio prompt.
- Open the second device’s Bluetooth menu and select MOMENTUM 5 Wireless.
Sennheiser says the headphones support two connected devices by default. Its setup instructions are in MOMENTUM 5 Wireless – Before You Start.

If pairing fails
- Check pairing mode on both sides. The headphones and the source device must both be discoverable or in pairing mode.
- Remove a stale Bluetooth record. If this source device has paired with the headphones before, use its Bluetooth settings to forget or remove the MOMENTUM 5 entry, then retry pairing from the beginning. The exact menu labels vary by operating system.
- Try the first-pairing or second-device procedure again. Use the first-startup flow for the first device, and the five-second power-button hold when adding a second device.

If the Bluetooth connection keeps dropping
In a crowded wireless environment, Sennheiser recommends turning off HiRes or Lossless audio in the app to reduce interference from other Bluetooth devices. This is a troubleshooting measure, not a guarantee that every dropout has the same cause or will be resolved by changing the audio setting.

With two devices paired, MOMENTUM 5 Wireless switches audio automatically according to activity such as playback, notifications, or calls. For the specific case of manually switching while paired with a Windows PC, Sennheiser says a phone running Smart Control Plus is required.

Choose the right kind of reset
Re-pairing, resetting the headphones, clearing saved pairings, and restoring factory defaults are different actions. Start with forgetting the old headphone entry on the source device; do not jump straight to a factory reset.

Sennheiser’s manual and troubleshooting FAQ describe reset controls differently: the manual specifies a 20-second hold of the multifunction button for a non-destructive reset, while the FAQ uses different power-button reset wording and summarizes factory reset differently. To avoid confusing a routine reset with an operation that clears settings, follow the manual and the app’s explicit pairing-list or factory-default reset functions. The MOMENTUM 5 Wireless manual provides the device-specific instructions.
