If you’re playing “Picking up the Pieces” on Pendola Pass, the missing or unfinishable objective is a known issue: Embark’s October 8, 2026 update notes say the quest works normally on other maps and will be fixed in an upcoming update, with no release date given. Try completing it on another map. For other quests, first confirm the quest is active and follow its stated location and interaction; there is no confirmed universal workaround for missing objectives.
First check whether your quest is the known Pendola Pass issue
Embark’s October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail update notes specifically say that “Picking up the Pieces” cannot be completed on Pendola Pass but works normally on other maps. The notes say a fix is coming in an upcoming update, but give no date.

For this quest, the practical choice is to try it on another map or wait for the update. Trying another map may let you make progress sooner, but requires you to travel and complete the quest there. Waiting avoids that extra effort, but the notes do not say when the fix will arrive. Embark does not identify either route as a workaround for other quests.

For other missing quest items or objectives
Verify the quest and its instructions
- Check that the quest is active in your quest list.
- Go to the location named by the quest and use the interaction it describes. An objective may not appear if you are at the wrong place or have not reached the required interaction.
- Look for quest or tracking UI cues on ground pickups. Embark added icons to quest-related or tracked ground pickups in its December 2025 update notes, and said the ESR Analyzer was made easier to find in Buried City. Those changes do not establish that every quest item is always marked.
If those checks do not help, compare your exact quest and map with Embark’s current update notes. If the problem is not addressed there, submit a bug report through the in-game reporting option. These checks are troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed fixes.

Why a quest prompt or pickup can fail to appear
Embark has fixed several distinct quest issues, but those past fixes do not show that the same defects are active now:
- In its November 13, 2025 version 1.2.0 notes, Embark said it fixed an issue that prevented completion of quests involving multiple objectives or item collections within a single round. The notes also say Greasing Her Palm in Spaceport was changed to include more thrusters that complete its objective.
- In its June 16, 2026 Live Update 1.33.0 notes, Embark said it fixed rare cases where objectives activated out of order, causing later steps to appear too early.
- The February 24, 2026 Shrouded Sky notes report fixes for a missing next-objective pop-up in multi-step quests and for a quest item appearing as world loot when its related quest was not active.
- The October 8, 2026 update notes also say Embark fixed an issue where items could appear outside their intended areas or containers. That broad placement fix is not confirmation that a particular missing quest pickup is currently broken.
These examples show that quest logic, objective order, prompts, or item placement can sometimes be affected by game-side bugs or narrow objective criteria. They are historical fixes, not proof of a current problem with your quest. Check the date and the exact quest and map before relying on an older report. Embark’s notes do not provide a prevalence statistic or a complete list of current quest bugs.
