Why isn’t Apple Intelligence available on my iPhone or other device?
Apple Intelligence is not available on every Apple device. Apple’s current compatibility and setup guidance lists supported models and minimum software versions, but requirements and language availability can change by operating-system generation and region. Check that page for your device and installed OS rather than relying on an older model or language list.

If the device is not on Apple’s supported list, changing a setting will not enable Apple Intelligence. Apple Watch support is paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone; it is not a standalone way to run the feature.
Check these requirements in order
- Identify the exact failure. Note the feature, device model, OS version, country where you are, Apple Account country or region, device language, and Siri language. Whether all features fail or just one can point to different causes.
- Confirm eligibility and update. Compare the model and OS with Apple’s current Apple Intelligence requirements. Install the latest system update available for that device.
- Turn Apple Intelligence on. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and check that Apple Intelligence is enabled. Menu wording or availability may differ by OS version and platform.
- Check free storage. Compare available device storage with the current requirement shown in Apple’s setup guidance. The consulted Apple Support page specifies 7 GB, except for Apple Watch; because requirements can change, use the current guidance for your software and region.
- Allow downloads to finish. After an OS update, on-device models may need to download. Apple recommends keeping the device connected to Wi-Fi and power for the fastest download experience. Apple does not specify a fixed completion time.
- Match the languages. The device language and Siri language must be the same supported language for the relevant platform, OS, and feature. If you recently changed Siri’s language, Apple Intelligence may remain unavailable while that language downloads and matches the device language.
Why aren’t Apple Intelligence features working even though setup is complete?
Only Writing Tools, image creation, or extensions are blocked
Screen Time’s Content & Privacy Restrictions can block Writing Tools, image-creation features, or intelligence extensions. Review Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and check the relevant controls. A feature is missing only on a particular platform or in a particular region
Availability varies by platform, language, and region, and not every feature is offered everywhere. Apple’s setup page describes special conditions for EU residents and China mainland, so check its current regional wording against both your location and Apple Account region. In particular, Apple says supported devices purchased outside China mainland currently cannot use Apple Intelligence when the user is in China mainland and their Apple Account country or region is also China mainland. Do not assume that travel alone, or being in China mainland alone, always explains the issue.
One feature stops responding or reports a limit
Some Apple Intelligence features rely on server-side models and may have usage limits. Apple says limits can vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, and policy. If other features work and only one server-based feature fails, a limit may be the reason; see Apple’s Apple Intelligence setup information for current details.

What to do if it still doesn’t work
- Record the exact feature and error or behavior, along with the device model, OS version, current location, Apple Account region, and both language settings.
- Recheck Apple’s current requirements and regional availability, then confirm that the device is enabled, has enough storage, and has completed any pending downloads.
- If only a restricted feature is affected, review the relevant Screen Time control. If only a server-dependent feature is affected, consider whether a usage limit applies.
- If those checks do not explain the problem, contact Apple Support with the details above. There is no single reset, reinstall, or network-reset procedure established as a universal fix for every Apple Intelligence failure.
