First check whether the problem follows the phone or stays with one network: test another device on the same WiFi, then try your phone on a different WiFi network. Those results point to the next steps, though they are clues rather than proof.
Find out whether the problem is your phone or the WiFi network
Try loading a webpage after each troubleshooting step so you can tell whether the change helped. If only one app or website fails while other sites work, the issue may be limited to that app or site rather than the WiFi connection.

- Other devices also have no internet on this WiFi: focus on the router, modem, internet service, or whoever manages the network.
- Other devices work, but your Android phone does not: focus on the phone’s connection or settings.
- Your phone works on another WiFi network: the original network is more likely to be the problem.
- Your phone fails on multiple WiFi networks: investigate the phone, its settings, or a downloaded app.
Google Pixel Help notes that when a phone connects to WiFi but still has no internet, the problem is most likely with the internet connection. Its troubleshooting steps also check the phone, so use the comparisons above rather than assuming the network is at fault.
Reconnect your Android phone to WiFi
Start with reversible steps. Menu labels vary by Android version and manufacturer, so look for WiFi or Internet in Settings if the exact wording differs. Test a webpage after each step.

- Open Settings, find WiFi or Internet, turn WiFi off, wait briefly, then turn it back on.
- Make sure Airplane mode is off. If it is already off, toggle it on and back off, then reconnect to WiFi.
- Restart the phone and try loading a webpage again.
On Android versions that support it, you can also reset the connection from Quick Settings: swipe down from the top of the screen, touch and hold Internet, then tap Reset. Do not use this during a phone or video call; the reset ends the call. See Android Help’s WiFi connection instructions for connection and saved-network guidance.
Complete sign-in on public WiFi
Hotels, airports, cafes, and other public hotspots may require you to sign in or accept terms after your phone joins the WiFi network.

- Tap the sign-in notification if one appears.
- If there is no notification, open a new browser page to prompt the hotspot’s sign-in screen.
- If the page still does not appear, forget the network, turn WiFi off and on, reconnect, and complete any sign-in or terms prompt.
When multiple devices fail on the same WiFi
If the network serves several devices and none can reach the internet, check the equipment and service before changing phone settings. Restart only equipment you own or are authorized to manage, and follow its manual.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Check that the router and modem are powered and that their cables are firmly connected at both ends.
- Unplug the router and modem power cords for 15 seconds, then reconnect them.
- Wait a few minutes for the equipment to restart and its status lights to return to normal.
- If several devices remain offline or the lights stay abnormal, contact your internet provider or the network administrator. A service outage or provider-side issue may need their help.
When the problem follows your phone
Forget and rejoin the WiFi network
In your phone’s WiFi settings, select the affected network and choose Forget or Forget network. Select it again, enter its password, and test a webpage. The menu wording varies across Android devices.

Check whether a downloaded app is interfering
Google’s detailed safe-mode guidance is for Pixel phones. If your Pixel’s WiFi works in safe mode, a downloaded app is a likely cause. Restart the phone normally, then remove recently installed apps one at a time, testing WiFi after each removal. Safe-mode steps differ by phone model; consult the manufacturer’s instructions if you do not have a Pixel.
Set date and time automatically
On Pixel phones, Google recommends automatic time as a check for WiFi connection problems. Look in the phone’s date and time settings for the automatic time option; the path and label can differ on other Android devices.

Reset WiFi and Bluetooth settings on Pixel
As a later Pixel troubleshooting step, go to Settings > System > Reset options and review the available reset options for Bluetooth and WiFi settings. Read the confirmation screen before proceeding: reset effects can vary, and you may need to reconnect saved networks and devices. Other manufacturers may use a different path or offer different reset choices.

Use Private DNS only as a targeted check
On supported Android devices, Private DNS can be set to Off, Automatic, or a provider hostname. Google recommends keeping Private DNS on; it protects DNS queries and answers, rather than serving as a general internet connection switch. If you deliberately entered a provider hostname and suspect that configuration, changing it back to Automatic is a controlled diagnostic. Do not assume Private DNS is the usual cause of this symptom. See Google Pixel Help’s network settings guidance.
When to contact your provider or network administrator
Contact the internet provider if multiple devices cannot access the internet after you have checked the equipment and connections. For workplace, school, hotel, or other managed WiFi, ask the network administrator; you may not be authorized to restart or reset its equipment. If your phone fails across multiple networks after the phone-side checks, contact the phone manufacturer or support service for device-specific help.
