An x402 endpoint can accept and settle payments without appearing in a Bazaar: payment settlement and catalog discovery are separate processes. For a listing to appear, the route must declare Bazaar discovery metadata, a paying client must carry that metadata into the settled payment payload, and the facilitator that processed the payment must index it. Start by checking that full path, then query that facilitator’s catalog—not a different Bazaar or leaderboard.
How Bazaar discovery differs from payment settlement
x402 payment middleware handles payment, but it does not by itself publish an endpoint. Discovery depends on metadata travelling from the protected route to the payment-required response, into the client’s PaymentPayload, and through settlement to a facilitator-operated catalog. A successful payment therefore does not prove that the endpoint was cataloged. The x402 documentation describes discovery and indexing as facilitator-specific, evolving behavior.

Check the request path before changing code
- Record the actual request details. Note the facilitator URL that processed payment, network,
payToaddress, and public endpoint URL used by the paying client. - Inspect the protected route configuration. Confirm that the route declares the Bazaar extension, not only payment middleware. Use the maintained helper for your framework and SDK version where possible; the TypeScript Bazaar extension documentation describes helper-based route configuration.
- Inspect the payment-required response. For HTTP, check the
PAYMENT-REQUIREDheader. For MCP, inspect the tool result’sstructuredContent. Confirm the Bazaar declaration is present and valid. - Inspect the client’s PaymentPayload. The client is expected to echo the discovery declaration from the payment-required response. Verify that the payload actually contains it.
- Make a paid request through the public endpoint. A route declaration alone does not create a catalog entry; a payment payload containing the extension must reach settlement.
- Query the same facilitator’s catalog. Request
/discovery/resourcesfrom the facilitator that processed payment. Check filter values and pagination before concluding the resource is absent. - Allow for processing, then escalate with specifics if needed. If the entry remains missing, give the facilitator or catalog operator the route, relevant payload fields, transaction reference, and exact catalog query.
Ten causes of a missing Bazaar listing
1. The route has no Bazaar extension
A payment-protected route can work without declaring discovery metadata. Add the Bazaar declaration to the protected route using the official helper appropriate to the framework and SDK version in use. Middleware that verifies payment is not a substitute for the route’s discovery declaration.

2. No paid request has carried the declaration through settlement
Adding metadata to server configuration does not catalog the resource by itself. A paying client must echo the declaration into its PaymentPayload, and that payload must be processed at settlement. After confirming this round trip, make a paid request through the public endpoint.

3. The client drops metadata from the 402 response
If the server declaration looks correct but the facilitator has no record, inspect both sides of the exchange. Confirm the response advertises the extension and the client copies it into PaymentPayload; do not infer that the client preserved it simply because payment succeeded.
4. The declaration is malformed or incomplete
Validate the declaration against the SDK schema. The documentation identifies common shape errors, including a missing info.input.type, a missing info.output.type when output is present, and malformed accepts entries—for example, putting an object where the asset string belongs or omitting the amount in atomic units. 5. The resource URL is relative or points to the wrong host
The resource URL must be absolute. The facilitator records the URL received in the payment payload; it does not necessarily crawl your host to discover the intended address. If a paid request uses a localhost URL, the catalog may record localhost. Use the public endpoint URL and verify the resource value in the payload.
6. The schema refers to unsupported external definitions
Bazaar schema references using external, file, or relative URIs are rejected. Keep $ref and $id references local to the document; same-document JSON Pointer fragments such as #/definitions/foo are allowed. Validate the schema before sending traffic.

7. Some metadata fields fail validation
Invalid service metadata can be dropped field by field. A successful payment does not establish that every discovery field was accepted. Correct invalid fields, then check the catalog entry again.
8. You are querying the wrong facilitator or filtering out the entry
Facilitators can operate separate discovery catalogs. Query the catalog belonging to the facilitator that settled the payment, and inspect filters such as payTo, network, type, and scheme. Check limit and offset as well: pagination can hide a result outside the page you requested. The x402 documentation describes discovery as an open specification whose catalog implementation is facilitator-specific.

9. Indexing is still processing, or a response header is being misread
Catalog inclusion may be asynchronous. If an EXTENSION-RESPONSES header is present, inspect bazaar.status and rejectedReason; a processing status means indexing is still underway. The absence of that header carries no signal, so it is not proof of rejection or success.

A campaign leaderboard and a Bazaar catalog are different systems. Algorand Foundation support guidance distinguishes Bazaar indexing from attribution on its Global x402 Challenge leaderboard: a missing challenge tag can affect campaign credit even while payments settle and discovery works. Check the discovery API first to establish which system is failing. The guidance is Algorand-specific; follow the current SDK documentation for your stack.

Choose an implementation and catalog deliberately
SDK helper or hand-written declaration?
The official or maintained SDK helpers are the safer default because they provide version- and framework-aware configuration and reduce schema-shape mistakes. A hand-written declaration can work, but validate it against the schema for the SDK version in use and inspect the exact declaration echoed through settlement. The TypeScript extension documentation shows helper-based configuration.
Which facilitator catalog should you check?
Do not assume one facilitator’s listing will appear in another’s catalog. Confirm the facilitator that processed the payment, then use its discovery endpoint and supported filters. Network availability and indexing behavior can change by facilitator; confirm current support with that operator rather than assuming a network listed elsewhere is available.
What to send the catalog operator
If the route and payload are correct but the resource still does not appear after processing time, provide enough detail for the operator to trace the exact cataloging path:
- The public resource URL and route configuration, including the Bazaar declaration.
- The facilitator URL, network, and
payTovalue used for the payment. - The relevant payment-required response and PaymentPayload fields showing whether the extension was echoed.
- The payment transaction reference and the exact
/discovery/resourcesquery, including filters and pagination values.
Catalog behavior and indexing are controlled by the facilitator or catalog operator, not guaranteed by the open-source x402 repository.
