A blank earbud-case screen does not automatically mean the display has failed. First check whether the case is charging: use a known-working, compatible cable and power source, allow time for a depleted battery to recover, and inspect the charging contacts. Because case designs and reset procedures vary, identify your exact model before trying a reset or arranging repair.
1. Check the power source, cable, and charging time
- Try a compatible power source and cable. Connect the case to a known-working charger with a cable that can charge another device, then check whether the case responds. A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee compatibility: HONOR notes that some of its case models may not work with E-mark USB-C cables. Check your model’s guidance if a cable does not work. - Give a deeply depleted case time to charge. An indicator may not appear immediately after the battery has run very low. Xiaomi recommends charging the REDMI Buds 6 Lite earbuds for at least 30 minutes to ensure activation. That interval is specific to Xiaomi’s guidance for this product; it is not a universal charging time for every earbud case. Xiaomi
2. Inspect and gently clean the charging contacts
Unplug the case and look for lint, dirt, corrosion, visible damage, or pins that appear collapsed in the charging port and inside the case. Check the earbuds’ contacts too. Clean gently with a soft cloth or cotton swab; HONOR allows a cloth dampened with alcohol but cautions against using a water-wet cloth or cleaning forcefully, which can deform contacts. Keep liquid out of the port, and do not scrape, pry, or push on a pin. Xiaomi and HONOR provide contact-cleaning guidance.

3. If the case powers on but the earbuds do not charge
- Check that the case has power, the contacts are clean and dry, and each earbud is seated so its contacts meet the case pins. These are soundcore’s recommended checks for charging or power problems. soundcore support
- If the earbuds are new, check for protective film over their charging contacts. JBL says film can block contact with the case pins on some products, including the Tour Pro 2. Remove it only if it is present and intended to be removed. This is a charging-contact check, not a fix for a damaged display. JBL support
4. Reset only with your model’s instructions
A reset procedure for one model may not work—or may have unintended effects—on another. Find the exact model name and follow its manufacturer’s manual or support page. For the REDMI Buds 6 Lite specifically, Xiaomi says to put both earbuds in the case, open the lid, and hold the function key for 10 seconds until the case light flashes three times. If a compatible cable and power source, adequate charging time, and careful contact checks do not restore charging or response, do not open the case or attempt board-level or display repair. Xiaomi directs REDMI Buds 6 Lite owners to after-sales processing if its checks fail; HONOR advises contacting a service center for persistent problems. Use the official support channel for your exact product and market, and check the applicable warranty terms before paying for repair or replacement. Should you buy a replacement cable or screen?
Do not choose a screen replacement or repair kit based only on the symptom: the model and the cause of the blank display are not yet established. If you need to test another cable, first check your case’s connector and the manufacturer’s compatibility guidance, then use a cable known to work with another device. HONOR’s E-mark cable caveat is one reason a random USB-C cable is not a guaranteed fix. The cited guidance does not establish a universal screen repair.
