Why won’t my AirPods Pro 3 connect?
Work through these checks before resetting. The connection and reset gestures for AirPods Pro 3 use the front of the case, not the rear setup button used on older AirPods models.

- Update the iPhone, iPad, or Mac you want to use, and make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
- Put both AirPods in the case and confirm that they are charging. Check the device’s audio output list to make sure AirPods Pro 3 is selected, and raise the volume.
- If the AirPods do not appear or connect, close the case lid for 15 seconds, then reopen it.
- With the case open, double-tap its front until the status light flashes white. Hold the open case near the device and follow the on-screen pairing prompt.
- If pairing still fails, reset the AirPods using the steps below, then pair them again.
How do I reset AirPods Pro 3?
A reset clears custom AirPods settings, so you may need to set those up again afterward. Try the simpler connection checks first.

- Put both AirPods in the case, close the lid, and wait 30 seconds.
- If needed, forget the AirPods in Bluetooth settings on the paired iPhone or iPad.
- Open the case lid. When the status light is on, double-tap the front of the case.
- When the light flashes white, double-tap the front again. When it flashes faster, double-tap a third time.
- When the light flashes amber and then white, follow the pairing prompt on your device.

Use a known-working power source and check each connection before treating a slow or missing charge as a battery failure.

- Put both AirPods in the case and close the lid.
- Connect the case to power. Check that the cable is firmly connected to the case and power adapter, and that the adapter is plugged into a working outlet. If charging wirelessly, reposition the case on the charger.
- Leave the AirPods and case charging for at least 15 minutes.
- Check the charge status on an Apple device or on the case to see whether the earbuds and case are gaining charge.
- If the case still does not respond, inspect its charging port for debris and follow Apple’s current cleaning directions. Avoid liquids or tools that Apple does not specify.
AirPods Pro 3’s case supports USB-C, MagSafe, Apple Watch chargers, and Qi-certified chargers. Trying another supported method can help distinguish a charger or cable problem from a case problem; it does not repair a hardware fault.
Why does the charge stop before 100%?
A charge limit below 100% does not by itself prove the battery is faulty. AirPods Pro 3 has Optimised Charge Limit and Optimised Battery Charging features. Optimised Charge Limit adapts to daily usage to help preserve battery lifespan and can allow a full charge when appropriate.

To request a full charge, wear and connect the AirPods to an iPhone or iPad, open AirPods settings, tap Battery, then turn off Optimised Charge Limit either for that day or entirely. The setting can be useful when you need more charge, but disabling it removes that battery-lifespan feature.
How long should AirPods Pro 3 battery last?
Apple’s product specifications give the following maximum estimates under specified test conditions. They are not guaranteed runtimes: Apple notes that battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage, and other factors.

Apple’s specifications identify these figures as based on testing in July and August 2025 with preproduction AirPods Pro 3 paired to a preproduction iPhone 17 Pro using prerelease software. A single runtime comparison is not enough to diagnose a defect without accounting for settings and use.

Contact Apple or an authorised service provider if the steps above do not resolve persistent connection or charging problems, or if runtime remains substantially reduced in your normal use. Apple offers inspection, repair or replacement, and in-person or mail-in service; options depend on location and parts availability. An inspection is needed for a personalised out-of-warranty estimate.
