Before changing your router, check Xbox service status and official Active Matter notices. A platform outage or game maintenance can disrupt online play regardless of your home connection; restarting network equipment will not resolve a service-side problem. 2. Relaunch the game and restart the router if services are normal
- Close Active Matter, then launch it again and check whether the symptom remains.
- If Xbox services and game notices show no relevant issue, restart your router using its normal procedure. Wait for it to reconnect before testing the game.

3. Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet

4. Temporarily reduce competing household traffic
Pause bandwidth-heavy activity on other devices for a short test—for example, large downloads or high-resolution streams—and see whether Active Matter changes. Restore normal household use afterward. If symptoms improve, that suggests shared network use may contribute, but it does not prove that household traffic is the only cause. On Xbox, open Settings > General > Network settings and run the available network test. Record the result and the NAT type before changing router settings. General Xbox guidance notes that moderate or strict NAT may affect online multiplayer; it is a clue to investigate, not a diagnosis specific to Active Matter.

Router features such as UPnP, filtering, and port configuration can affect connectivity, but the right settings depend on your router and ISP. Capcom’s guidance is general Xbox Series X advice, not an Active Matter-specific prescription. Do not open ports or disable security settings unless you understand the consequences; consult your router maker or ISP if you are unsure.
