How to Fix a Missing Wi‑Fi QR Code or Share Network Option on Samsung

Connect your Galaxy to the Wi‑Fi first, then check the connected network’s details page for QR code or Share network. If it is still missing, use manual network entry as a fallback.

If your Samsung Galaxy does not show a Wi‑Fi QR code or sharing button, first connect the phone to the Wi‑Fi network you want to share. Then open Settings > Connections > Wi‑Fi, tap the settings icon beside that connected network, and look near the bottom of its details page for QR code or Share network. The label and availability can differ by software version, model, and carrier.

Find the sharing control on the connected network

  1. Connect your Galaxy phone to the exact Wi‑Fi network you want another device to use. Samsung’s directions require the sender to be connected; do not assume a saved but disconnected network profile can be shared this way. Samsung Singapore’s instructions state this prerequisite.

  2. Go to Settings > Connections > Wi‑Fi.

  3. Tap the gear or settings icon beside the network marked as connected.

  4. Look at the bottom of that network’s details page for QR code or Share network. Samsung’s Gulf support instructions use “QR code.” Samsung’s One UI 6.0 upgrade guide describes a “Share network” button at the bottom, replacing a Quick Share menu.

If the option is not there, verify that the phone is connected to the intended network and that you opened the connected network’s own details—not the general Wi‑Fi menu or a different saved network. Those are the first checks supported by Samsung’s sharing procedure.

Check the password option separately

On the One UI 6.0 version described in Samsung’s upgrade guide, a password menu is available to show the connected or stored profile’s password. If the phone has a secure screen lock, unlock it when prompted; the guide says the password can then be copied by pressing and holding. This description is specific to that guide and should not be taken as a guarantee that every Galaxy model or software build displays the same controls.

Account for model, carrier, and software differences

Samsung says Wi‑Fi QR sharing is available on most modern Galaxy devices and gives Galaxy S24, S25, S26, Z Fold, Z Flip, and A families as examples. “Most” is not a complete compatibility guarantee: Samsung’s US support information says some connection options vary by carrier. The published instructions do not provide a full model-, carrier-, or software-build compatibility matrix, so the absence of a button alone does not establish that Samsung removed the feature or identify a specific device limitation.

For a device-specific diagnosis, note the Galaxy model, One UI and Android versions, whether the phone is connected to the target Wi‑Fi, and what controls appear on that network’s details page. Samsung’s older Singapore instructions, updated August 1, 2022, confirm the connected-network prerequisite and core path; for labels, use the instructions for your software version and the labels actually shown on your phone.

Use manual Wi‑Fi entry if sharing is unavailable

If the sharing control remains missing, ask the network owner or administrator for the exact network name (SSID), security type, and password. On the recipient’s device, add the network from its Wi‑Fi settings and enter those details. Samsung documents manual network entry in its US Wi‑Fi support guidance, which also notes that some options vary by carrier. Manual entry gets the other device connected; it does not restore a missing QR or sharing control on the Galaxy.

If the QR code appears but the other device cannot connect

A visible QR code means the issue is different from a missing sender-side option. Samsung lists older Android software on the receiving device and router restrictions or security settings among reasons QR-based joining may fail. Keep the Galaxy sender connected to the network while sharing; if the QR connection still fails, Samsung also suggests restarting the router. See Samsung’s QR-sharing troubleshooting guidance.
