Start by identifying the failing stage—configuration, compilation, linking, test discovery, or test execution—before changing code. The right fix depends on the project’s build instructions, compiler settings, and failing diagnostic; without a repository or CI log, no specific code correction can be responsibly prescribed.
1. Find the first actionable failure
Save the complete CI job output, then locate the earliest meaningful error. A later linker or test message may be a consequence of an earlier configuration or compilation failure. Determine whether the job stopped during configuration, compilation, linking, test discovery, or test execution; a CI pipeline’s stages and commands are project-specific.

- Configuration: Look for missing dependencies, unsupported options, or errors while generating build files.
- Compilation: Find the first compiler diagnostic that prevents a source file from building.
- Linking: Check for unresolved symbols or other failures after compilation has produced object files.
- Test discovery: Check whether the expected tests were registered or made available to the test runner.
- Test execution: Identify the specific test that ran and failed, along with its output and exit status.
Keep the original log intact. The exact command and surrounding output are often necessary to distinguish a root cause from follow-on errors.

A diagnostic usually provides a source file and line, a category such as warning or error, an option name, and sometimes notes that clarify the reported problem. Read the full diagnostic and nearby notes rather than reacting to the final summary line.

GCC distinguishes errors, which prevent compilation, from warnings, which identify unusual conditions that may indicate a problem even though compilation can continue (GNU GCC: Warnings and Errors). A warning is not necessarily harmless: project policy can make it fatal. Clang documents -Werror for treating warnings as errors, as well as more specific controls such as -Werror=foo and -Wno-error=foo (Clang Compiler User’s Manual).
Before interpreting a warning as nonfatal, check the command line and project configuration for warning-as-error settings. Don’t remove a warning flag or suppress a diagnostic simply to get a green build; first determine whether the code needs correcting and whether changing diagnostic policy is actually intended.

3. Reproduce the project’s build locally
Use the repository’s own contribution and build instructions. CI commands are not universal: a project may use different generators, scripts, options, or test targets, and those choices cannot be inferred from the title alone. Match the failing job as closely as you can, and compare these settings when a local run behaves differently:

- Operating system and target architecture
- Compiler and version
- C or C++ language standard
- Build configuration, such as debug or release
- Warning and error policy
- Enabled project or feature options
- Generated files, dependencies, and test runtime environment
Record the exact commands and settings you used. If the project documents a script or CI-equivalent target, prefer that over inventing a substitute command.

- Note: Make sure your smartphone is equipped with OTG function and need to open OTG function in Settings when you plug memory stick, then you can transfer easily data bewteen different devices
4. If the project uses CMake and CTest
For a CTest-managed project, run CTest from the project’s generated build directory. CTest executes tests defined through the generated test files. Its documentation describes --output-on-failure for printing output from failed tests and -V for printing all test output; it returns a nonzero status if at least one test fails (CMake: ctest(1)).
cd <generated-build-directory>ctest --output-on-failure- If the failure needs more context, run
ctest -Vto see all test output.
These commands apply only when the project uses CMake/CTest and the build directory has been generated appropriately. Select a configuration or build target as the project’s instructions require; the correct values are not known without that project’s setup.

5. Make the smallest justified fix, then verify it
Once the failure is understood, reduce it to the smallest relevant change or test where practical. Correct the underlying cause rather than weakening assertions, skipping a test, or suppressing a diagnostic to make CI pass, unless maintainers explicitly intend that policy change.

6. Share enough detail for someone else to diagnose it
If the failure remains unclear, report the exact failing command, the relevant unedited diagnostic, the operating system and architecture, compiler and version, and any differences between the local run and CI. Include the project’s documented test procedure and the checks you actually performed. These details make it possible to move from a general troubleshooting workflow to a specific, evidence-based fix.
