What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If you have a blurry picture on your LG TV, first check whether the blur affects every input or only one channel, app, or connected device. Then try the picture settings for the affected input and run LG’s Picture Test. These checks help distinguish a source or connection problem from a fault that needs LG support.
First find out where the blur appears
Check the TV’s menus, another built-in app or channel, and another input if available. Note whether the blur appears everywhere or is limited to one program or device.

- One channel or source is blurry: Check that broadcast, app, set-top box, computer, or other source first. Its signal, settings, or connection may be responsible.
- Several sources are blurry: Continue with the TV’s picture settings and built-in diagnostics.
This comparison follows LG’s guidance to use Picture Test and source checks to help isolate the cause; it does not prove that every symptom has one specific cause.

LG recommends trying Standard or Vivid Picture Mode when the screen is visible but blurry. Settings can be different for broadcast and HDMI inputs, so check the mode again after switching sources. If Energy Saving is enabled, turn it off temporarily to see whether the picture changes. LG’s menu paths vary by TV generation; use the route that matches your model, and consult its manual if labels differ.

| webOS 5.0 or earlier | Settings > Picture > Picture Mode Settings > Picture Mode | Settings > Picture > Energy Saving |
These are generation-specific paths in LG USA’s guide, not universal menus. For other versions or older Smart TV and Netcast models, check the guide for your exact model.
Check aspect ratio and computer settings
Choose an aspect ratio appropriate for the content. If the blurry image comes from a PC, set the computer to the display resolution recommended by its operating system and check the TV’s external-input configuration. LG’s guide for some older products, from 2018 or earlier, describes setting the HDMI input icon to PC; that option is not established for every model.
Sharpening or picture-enhancement settings cannot restore detail that is missing from the incoming video. If only the PC image is affected, address the PC’s resolution and TV input setup before treating it as a panel problem.

- Turn off both the TV and the connected source device.
- Disconnect the HDMI cable, then reconnect it securely at both ends.
- If your TV supports it, run the HDMI check in Quick Help. LG describes this diagnostic for supported TVs from 2019 onward; the menu route depends on the model.
- If the diagnostic or inspection points to a damaged or unsuitable cable, consider a replacement that matches the connection. LG recommends an authentic HDMI cable and HDMI 2.0 or later for the set-top-box case in its guide. For PC connections, LG recommends a certified High-Speed HDMI cable and says HDMI 2.0 or higher is recommended.
Quick Help routes differ: LG’s 2026 guide gives separate paths for webOS 23 and later and webOS 22 or earlier, and some models may not support the function. Look up your TV by model number if you cannot find it. A new cable is relevant only when the HDMI connection is implicated; it will not fix blur from a built-in app, weak broadcast, incorrect PC resolution, or an internal TV fault.

Use Picture Test to decide what to do next
Run LG’s Picture Test and examine the test image, not just the program that looked blurry.
- The test image looks normal: Investigate the app, broadcast, set-top box, computer, or service provider responsible for the affected content.
- The test image is also abnormal: Contact LG support. The TV’s own test image can help identify a display problem that is not limited to one source.
If the image remains blurry across inputs after you have checked settings and connections, contact LG support rather than opening the TV or attempting internal repair. LG notes that a technician visit may involve a service fee when the product is out of warranty.
If the picture clears after the TV warms up
LG addresses the question, “Why is the screen blurry for the first few minutes after I turn on the TV, then becomes clearer?” Its support guidance says this may indicate an internal component issue and advises contacting customer support.
