The grill becomes available on Island 3. The reported unlock sequence is to complete the Grillmaster quest by obtaining a Standard Boss Lure, catching the Blue Shark it summons, and returning the shark to the Grillmaster. How to cook a gun for the value boost
- Go to the grill on Island 3 and hold the gun over the flame.
- Check the live item panel. Nerd’s Chalk says it displays Value, Cooking multiplier, Weight, and Killscore.
- Remove the gun when the cooking multiplier reaches 1.5x, the peak value multiplier reported by the available guides.
Leaving an item over the flame too long can burn it. Guides disagree about the value of a burnt item: Nerd’s Chalk reports zero, while a search result from How to Fish Best reports 0.1x. The exact burnt value is therefore not established reliably enough to state as fact.
What cooking changes for guns
Cooking is described as a resale-value mechanic. It does not make a gun shoot harder or improve its handling, so cook guns when you intend to sell them for more in-game value—not to improve combat performance.

Island 5 volcano: an alternative with uncertain timing
Guides identify a volcano or lava cooking option on Island 5. Nerd’s Chalk and How to Fish Best describe it as reaching 1.5x without a burn-timing risk, but the fan wiki says lava uses a different timing window. Treat it as an alternate location, not a guaranteed risk-free method; check the live readout and current game behavior rather than assuming the timing works like the grill.
