The AGM G2 Guardian is the clearest verified example: its manufacturer lists both a thermal camera and a separate infrared night-vision camera. The Cat S62 Pro is another confirmed thermal-imaging phone, but its current availability and software support are not established by the available product sources. The evidence does not support a reliable list of five current models, so the two confirmed phones below are identified by what is known rather than padded with unverified recommendations.
What “seeing in the dark” means on a phone
Thermal cameras detect heat energy and display differences in temperature; they do not show a conventional, full-color view of a scene. Teledyne FLIR explains that thermal imaging can visualize heat in total darkness. Infrared night vision is a separate approach: an infrared illuminator lights the scene for a camera able to capture it, even when visible light is limited. The AGM G2 Guardian lists these as two distinct cameras, not two names for the same feature. AGM’s G2 Guardian specifications and Teledyne FLIR’s Cat S62 Pro announcement describe the respective capabilities.

Two Android phones with documented dark-scene imaging
AGM G2 Guardian: thermal imaging and infrared night vision
AGM’s product page lists Android 12, a 256×192 thermal camera with a 10 mm lens, and a separate 20 MP infrared night-vision camera. The thermal sensor specifications include a 25 Hz refresh rate, 12 μm pixel interval and less than 60 mK NETD; these are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. AGM also advertises thermal detection up to 500 m. That is a manufacturer detection claim, not evidence that a person can identify fine details at that distance. Specifications may vary by region. The key practical distinction is that the two cameras serve different purposes: thermal imaging shows heat contrasts, while infrared night vision captures a scene using infrared illumination. The published specifications do not establish a side-by-side image-quality comparison, lens field of view, or the conditions under which the 500 m claim applies.

Cat S62 Pro: documented FLIR thermal imaging
The Cat S62 Pro is a verified example of an Android phone with thermal imaging. Corning’s product listing identifies its FLIR Lepton 3.5 sensor, and Teledyne FLIR and Cat Phones announced a thermal-imaging software development kit for the phone on December 8, 2021. FLIR describes the technology as visualizing heat energy and working in total darkness. These sources establish the phone’s thermal-imaging capability; they do not establish current retail availability, ongoing Android updates or present-day support. Corning’s Cat S62 Pro listing and FLIR’s announcement document the feature.
Why this is not a verified list of five current phones
The title’s five-phone count cannot be supported with the available authoritative product evidence. The G2 Guardian has current manufacturer specifications, while the Cat S62 Pro’s imaging capability is documented but its current availability and support are unresolved. Other phone names have appeared in secondary coverage, but without sufficient official documentation and availability evidence here, they should not be treated as confirmed current recommendations. A shorter, qualified list is more useful than presenting historical or unverified devices as phones you can buy now.

How to choose a phone for dark-scene imaging
- Choose the imaging type for the job. Thermal imaging is for heat contrasts; infrared night vision is for capturing an infrared-illuminated scene. Neither is equivalent to ordinary full-color photography in zero light.
- Check thermal resolution and optics. Resolution affects the detail a thermal image can show. For the G2 Guardian, AGM lists 256×192 resolution and a 10 mm lens; do not infer image detail at a distance from the detection-range claim alone.
- Verify software and buying conditions. Check the Android version, update support, local network-band compatibility, durability, price and availability for the exact regional model before buying. The documented specifications above do not settle all of these factors.
AGM’s official storefront says its phones can be purchased through its Amazon store, but that does not confirm a live listing in your region. Check AGM’s official storefront and confirm the current listing and seller details before purchase.
