There is no single service-menu shortcut that is safe to assume for every TV. Find the exact model number and year, then check that model’s official manual or manufacturer support page before trying any procedure. If you only want to adjust the picture or sound, use the regular Settings menu instead.
Start with the exact TV model
Service-menu procedures can vary by model and year. LG USA notes that menu settings vary by TV model year and points owners to the TV User Guide for the full list of settings. Check the label on the TV, its packaging, or the regular Settings/About screen for the model code; the location is not the same on every set. Then confirm the model and region against the manufacturer’s official documentation.

Do not use a shortcut found for a different TV, even if it is the same brand. If the official guide for your exact model does not document service-menu access, contact the manufacturer or an authorized service provider rather than experimenting with codes.
Use the regular Settings menu for everyday changes
For ordinary picture or sound adjustments, the TV’s normal Settings interface is the right place to start. On the LG models covered by its support guidance, pressing the Settings gear button opens the regular on-screen menu; this is not a service-menu sequence. Samsung Australia also directs owners to the manual when resetting an individual picture or sound setting.

What to do if you need the service menu
- Identify the TV. Record its full model code and year, and note the region in which it was sold.
- Open the official documentation. Find the user guide or support page for that specific model and region. Look for a service-menu procedure explicitly documented for it.
- Follow only that procedure. If no official procedure is provided, ask the manufacturer or an authorized repair service for guidance. Samsung Australia, for example, directs customers to authorized service centers for repairs.
- Leave unfamiliar values unchanged. Do not alter a setting unless you understand what it controls and have a model-specific reason to change it.
Why unfamiliar service-menu settings deserve caution
Some documented professional and hospitality menus include controls for hotel features, remote-control commands, startup source or channel, and software-related setup. Those examples show why an unfamiliar option may affect more than picture quality; they do not establish that every consumer TV has the same options. In one Philips manual, a brightness control is described as intended for expert users. Treat professional, hotel, calibration, firmware, initialization, and reset entries as technical controls, not routine picture settings.
A factory reset is not a safe way to back out of a change. Sony warns that a factory data reset can erase customized settings and data such as channels, account information, downloaded apps, network settings, and parental locks. Samsung also says resets restore many settings to defaults and may remove calibration changes. Do not choose a reset unless you understand its consequences and have a specific reason to use it.
