On an administrator-enabled ARK: Survival Evolved server, the quickest way to find a Tribe ID is to enable the admin HUD and look at a structure owned by that tribe. Press Tab, enter setcheatplayer 1 (or setcheatplayer true), then inspect the target tribe’s building. The HUD shows its Tribe ID. Once you have that number, run cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID> to list the tribe’s members and their PlayerIDs.

These are ARK identifiers, not Steam account IDs. You need administrator permission, and the commands and console controls below are specifically for server administration in ARK: Survival Evolved; ARK: Survival Ascended, console editions, mods and hosting providers can expose different commands or controls.

What the two IDs identify
ARK uses separate identifiers for a tribe and for an individual survivor. A Tribe ID identifies the team that owns structures, creatures and other tribe assets. A PlayerID identifies a player character within the game. Admin commands that ask for one of these values will not accept the other interchangeably.
Neither value should be treated as a Steam64ID or another Steam account identifier. HidenCloud and GPORTAL both explicitly distinguish ARK’s Tribe ID and PlayerID from Steam IDs. The official command reference also describes the member-list command as printing PlayerID and SteamID information, so read the labels in its output rather than assuming every number is the same type of identifier.

Before you start: access and version checks
You must have server administrator permission
The workflow depends on cheat commands. On a hosted server, the owner or host normally sets an administrator password in the server control panel. Some providers require a restart before the new password is active. Without administrator rights, enablecheats, the admin HUD and the member-list command will fail or do nothing.
Confirm which ARK edition you are running
The instructions here describe ARK: Survival Evolved server administration. Command support, console key bindings and output can differ in ARK: Survival Ascended, console editions, modded servers and provider-specific configurations. If a command is rejected despite correct spelling and permission, check the command reference for that server’s exact edition and platform before changing unrelated settings.
Have a structure owned by the target tribe available
The HUD reveals a tribe number when you look at an object owned by that tribe. You therefore need to be able to reach a target-owned building, foundation or other structure. Looking at your own base, a wild object or an unrelated tribe’s property will show information for that object’s owner, not the tribe you intended to investigate.
How to find a Tribe ID from a tribe-owned structure
- Set or obtain the administrator password. In your host’s settings, assign an administrator password if one has not already been configured. Restart the server if the host says a restart is required.
- Join the server with an administrator account. Open the in-game console and enter
enablecheats <administrator password>. Replace the angle-bracket text with the actual password. A successful activation may show no confirmation message, so the absence of a response is not by itself an error. - Open the console. Press Tab while in the game. HidenCloud and GPORTAL document Tab as the console key for this workflow. If Tab does not open a console, verify the edition, platform key mapping and server configuration.
- Turn on the admin HUD. Enter
setcheatplayer 1and press Enter. The equivalent Boolean form issetcheatplayer true. HidenCloud notes that this command does not requirecheatoradmincheatbefore it. - Inspect the target’s property. Close the console if necessary and aim at a building or other structure owned by the tribe you need to identify. Read the Tribe number shown in the admin HUD. Record it exactly, including every digit.
- Turn the HUD off when finished, if desired. Run the corresponding false form,
setcheatplayer 0orsetcheatplayer false, to remove the extra display.
The number shown while you are looking at a tribe-owned structure is the practical Tribe ID you need for the next command. The HUD does not identify a tribe merely because you are near it; the object under your crosshair must belong to that tribe.

How to list a tribe’s members and PlayerIDs
After you have the Tribe ID, open the console again and run:
cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID>
Replace <TribeID> with the number from the HUD. For example, if the HUD shows Tribe ID 123456789, enter:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList 123456789
The command prints an overview of the specified tribe and its members. The member entries include each player’s PlayerID; the official command description also refers to SteamID information in the output. Use the field labeled PlayerID when another ARK command asks for a PlayerID, and use the Tribe ID only where a command explicitly requests a tribe.
Use the command spelling exactly
The command prefix is singular: cheat. HidenCloud specifically warns that cheats is incorrect. Keep the command name as GetTribeIdPlayerList, including its capitalization, and separate it from the numeric argument with a space. Do not include the angle brackets; they indicate a value to replace.

Two methods, two jobs
| Method | What it gives you | What you need | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Admin HUD inspection | The Tribe ID associated with the object under your crosshair | Admin permission, the HUD enabled, and access to a structure owned by the target tribe | Fastest way to discover a Tribe ID |
GetTribeIdPlayerList |
The tribe’s member list, including PlayerIDs (and output that may include SteamID information) | Admin permission and a known Tribe ID | Finding one or several members’ PlayerIDs |
These methods are sequential rather than competing alternatives in most cases: use the HUD to obtain the tribe number, then use the command when you need member identifiers. If you already know the Tribe ID, you can skip the inspection step and run the member-list command directly.
Admin command checklist
- Administrator password is configured on the server.
- The server has been restarted if the host requires that change to take effect.
- You entered
enablecheats <administrator password>after joining. - You opened the console with Tab.
- You enabled the HUD with
setcheatplayer 1orsetcheatplayer true. - You are looking at a structure owned by the intended tribe.
- You copied the Tribe ID exactly.
- You used
cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID>, not a misspelled variant. - You selected the output’s PlayerID field when an admin command asks for a player identifier.
Troubleshooting when no ID appears
enablecheats appears to do nothing
ARK may provide no success message after a correct password, so test the result by opening the console and running setcheatplayer 1. If the HUD still does not appear, confirm that the password exactly matches the server setting, that you joined the server on the account granted permission, and that any required restart was completed. A password set in a host panel is not necessarily active until the provider applies it.

Check that you are using the in-game console rather than a chat field, and verify the key binding for your platform and edition. Keyboard controls documented for the PC version may not map directly to every console release. On a provider-managed server, a configuration or mod can also affect console access.
The HUD shows the wrong tribe
Move your crosshair to a structure that definitely belongs to the intended tribe. A nearby foundation, door, storage box or other asset may belong to a different tribe, and the HUD reports the owner of the object you are actually targeting. If you cannot access any target-owned structure, the HUD method cannot reliably identify that tribe; an administrator who can inspect its property will need to perform the lookup.

The member-list command returns nothing or an error
First verify the number and command spelling. Use singular cheat, the exact command name GetTribeIdPlayerList, and a numeric Tribe ID with no angle brackets. Then confirm that admin cheats are active. A Tribe ID from another server, save, map or edition may not correspond to the current world, so obtain a fresh value from a current structure when possible.
You found a number but an admin command rejects it
Check the parameter name in the command you are trying to use. A command requesting a PlayerID needs the member value from GetTribeIdPlayerList; a command requesting a TribeID needs the HUD value. Neither should be replaced with a Steam64ID simply because the same player also has a Steam account.
Understanding the output and avoiding identifier mix-ups
Tribe ID
This identifies the tribe or team that owns the inspected structure. It is the value supplied to GetTribeIdPlayerList.
PlayerID
This identifies an in-game player character in ARK. Copy the value next to the member’s name when another ARK admin command asks for PlayerID.
Best Value
Steam ID
A Steam account identifier is a separate identity system. GPORTAL’s documentation states directly that the Tribe or Player ID is not your Steam ID. Treat any SteamID shown in command output as a distinct field with different command compatibility.
Platform and server-version caveats
Console commands are controlled by the server and game edition, not just by the keyboard layout. The steps above are documented for ARK: Survival Evolved administration. ARK: Survival Ascended may use different command support or syntax; console editions can expose different ways to open the command line; and mods or host configurations can alter permissions and output. Before troubleshooting a working command as if it were broken, identify the server’s edition, platform, mod set and provider configuration, then consult the current command reference for that environment.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do not assume an identifier transfers between separate servers or saves. The useful value is the one displayed for the tribe in the world you are administering. If you migrate, restore or replace a save, repeat the lookup rather than relying on an old note.
Practical examples
Finding your own tribe’s PlayerID
- Stand beside a structure your tribe owns.
- Enable cheats and run
setcheatplayer true. - Read and record the Tribe ID shown for that structure.
- Run
cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID>with that number. - Locate your character in the returned member list and copy the value labeled PlayerID.
Finding another tribe member’s PlayerID
- Inspect a structure owned by the member’s tribe, not a neutral or unrelated object.
- Record the Tribe ID from the HUD.
- Run the member-list command with that Tribe ID.
- Match the player’s in-game name to the corresponding PlayerID entry.
- Use that PlayerID only in commands whose parameter explicitly says PlayerID.
When you need the whole roster
You do not need to run a separate lookup for every survivor. One successful GetTribeIdPlayerList call returns the tribe overview and its members, allowing you to record several PlayerIDs from the same output.
Security and operational precautions
- Keep the administrator password restricted to people who should operate the server.
- Copy IDs into a private admin note rather than posting them in public chat.
- Check the target structure and the command argument before executing any action that changes ownership, inventory or player state.
- Disable the admin HUD after recording the value so it does not obscure normal play.
- When documenting an ID, note the server and save it came from; a number from another world may be unusable here.
Quick reference
| Purpose | Command or action | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Authenticate as administrator | enablecheats <administrator password> |
Activates admin commands; there may be no confirmation text |
| Show admin information | setcheatplayer 1 or setcheatplayer true |
Displays the HUD, including the owner’s Tribe ID when targeting a structure |
| List members and IDs | cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID> |
Displays the tribe’s members and their PlayerIDs, with SteamID information described in the command reference |
| Hide the HUD | setcheatplayer 0 or setcheatplayer false |
Removes the extra admin display |
The dependable sequence is therefore: obtain administrator access, enable the HUD, inspect a structure owned by the intended tribe, record the Tribe ID, and pass that number to GetTribeIdPlayerList when you need PlayerIDs. Keeping TribeID, PlayerID and SteamID as separate fields prevents the most common admin-command errors.
