To identify a Logitech Harmony remote, find its model name or model number, then confirm whether its setup includes a Harmony Hub. The exact model points you to the right support page; the Hub check tells you whether to follow Hub-based or infrared (IR) instructions.
How do I identify my Logitech Harmony remote?
- Look for a model name or model number. Check the remote and any packaging or manual you still have. Logitech does not establish one universal location for the model marking across every remote, so do not assume it will be in a particular spot.
- Compare the name with Logitech’s model list. Logitech’s compatibility page groups examples by remote family. Its lists say “and more,” so a model missing from the examples is not necessarily outside the Harmony range.
- Check whether the setup includes a Harmony Hub. Use the Hub-based support path if your system has a Hub; if it has no Hub and the remote controls devices directly with infrared, use the IR path.
- Open the matching model’s support page. Logitech’s support site includes model-specific setup guides and links to configuration software, syncing help, troubleshooting, and release notes.
Which Harmony remotes are Hub-based and which are infrared?
Logitech distinguishes the families by how they control devices. Hub-based remotes work with a Harmony Hub and can control devices using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. IR remotes do not work with the Harmony Hub and use infrared. Logitech’s remote comparison also lists Harmony mobile app and some smart-home integration support for Hub-based models, while marking those features unsupported for IR remotes. Capabilities can vary by model, so check its support page before relying on a particular feature.

These are examples from Logitech’s compatibility page, not a complete catalog. Its support landing page also has setup pages for models including the 950 and 665. When a model name is listed in support but not among the compatibility page’s examples, use the model-specific support information rather than trying to infer its identity from appearance alone.

A model name identifies the product family or model; a model number may be a separate identifier. A serial number, often marked “SN,” is not the model number. Logitech’s model-number guidance recommends checking a product label or manual for model information. Its examples of label locations concern devices being configured, however, and do not establish where every Harmony remote’s own label is located.

What should I do if I still cannot identify it?
- Write down every visible model name or number, keeping model and serial numbers separate.
- Check any original manual or product packaging for a model identifier.
- Look for a Harmony Hub in the setup and note whether the remote is configured to work with it.
- Search Logitech support for the exact name or number you found, then follow that model’s setup or troubleshooting guide.
- If the name is absent from Logitech’s example list, do not rule it out on that basis alone; the list is not exhaustive.
Logitech’s support pages were accessed on October 7, 2026. They provide model examples and a Hub-versus-IR distinction, but do not offer a complete visual identification guide for every model or revision.
