View the country or region chosen during setup
- Open Settings. You can select it from the Start menu.
- Choose Time & language.
- Open Language & region.
- Look for the country or region recorded from device setup on that page.
Windows asks you to choose a country or region during its out-of-box setup process, as described in Microsoft’s Windows 11 setup guidance. Microsoft’s October 14, 2025 release note says that this setup choice now appears under the Language & region settings page.

What the displayed choice means
This is the country or region selected during setup; it is not a reading of where the PC is physically located now. Windows location services estimate physical location separately using signals that can include GPS, nearby wireless access points, cell towers, and IP address. Microsoft documents this display in its October 14, 2025 update note, but the available documentation does not establish that it appears on every Windows 11 installation or specify a complete minimum build requirement. If the entry is missing, do not treat your language, time zone, or current location as proof of the original setup selection; the cited documentation does not establish those as substitutes.
