Start with your current body measurements and the size chart linked on the specific Chico’s product page—not a familiar US size alone. Chico’s uses a 000–4 scale, including half sizes, and offers missy, petite and short options whose proportions are not interchangeable. For pants, Chico’s says to compare your hips first, then check the inseam and length.
How Chico’s sizes translate to standard US sizes
Chico’s numerical scale runs from 000 through 4, with half sizes. Its chart maps those numbers to standard US and letter sizes as a starting point:

These are Chico’s published conversions, not a guarantee that every garment in a size will fit the same way. In particular, the chart associates Chico’s size 4 with both US 20 and US 22, so the conversion is not one-to-one throughout the range. Use the product’s own chart and the relevant body measurements to choose a size. Chico’s size charts and its sizing guide provide the retailer’s conversions.
How to measure before ordering
Use a flexible measuring tape and measure your current body rather than relying on the tag in another brand. Chico’s offers separate chart sections for tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, swim and accessories; the measurements to compare depend on the category. Its tops chart, for example, includes chest, waist, hip and arm.

- Inseam: Measure along the inside seam of pants that fit you well.
- Chest and arm: Use the definitions and instructions in Chico’s chart, keeping the tape parallel to the floor for circumference measurements.
Compare your measurements with the chart for the garment category and size type. Chico’s says each product page has a link to its size chart; open that item-level link before adding the garment to your bag. Choosing a size for pants and other bottoms
For pants, Chico’s sizing guide identifies hip measurement as the most important number. Compare your hips with the bottoms chart, then check the available inseam or length and whether the option is missy, petite or short. The sources do not establish that every fabric or style fits identically, so use the chart linked to the particular product rather than assuming one pair predicts another.

Missy, petite and short: what changes
Missy and petite
Chico’s describes petite garments as intended for women 5 ft 4 in or under and lists petite measurements separately from missy. Petite means adjusted proportions, not simply a shorter inseam; compare the appropriate petite chart rather than transferring a missy size without checking measurements.

Chico’s says short inseams are longer than petite inseams, while the overall cut does not use the same proportional adjustments as petite. If you are between 5 ft 2 in and 5 ft 4 in, Chico’s official sizing guide, published June 10, 2026, suggests trying both. Treat that as retailer guidance, not an independent fit test.

What to do if your preferred size is unavailable
Chico’s FAQ says limited quantities are made and a sold-out item may not be restocked. Check the product page for current availability; if locating a particular item matters, contact Chico’s customer service rather than assuming another size or future restock will be available. A quick sizing workflow
- Measure your waist and hips; measure inseam from pants that fit well if you are shopping for bottoms.
- Open the chart linked on the product page and choose the chart for that garment category and size type.
- Use the Chico’s-to-US conversion as a starting point, then compare your measurements with the chart’s body ranges.
- For pants, prioritize hips and check the listed length; for shorter proportions, distinguish petite from short.
- Confirm the size is in stock and review return eligibility, method, deadline and any mail-label deduction before ordering.
