Find the complete model number on your Philips trimmer, then use it to look up the compatible charger, cable, or stand on Philips Parts & Accessories or the model’s support page. A trimmer’s series name alone is not enough: Philips notes that products in the same series may use different parts.
Find your trimmer’s complete model number
Look for the model code on the trimmer body or handle. Depending on the product family, it may be on the back, beneath a cover, or inside the battery compartment. The packaging and manual may show it too. Philips explains where to find product model numbers in its model-number guide.

Keep the entire code, including any digits after a slash. Philips’ US guidance for requesting an adapter specifically asks for the full model number, including the suffix. If you no longer have the packaging or manual, check Philips’ Parts & Accessories or support site using the code printed on the device.

Philips trimmers do not all use the same charging arrangement. Depending on the model, charging may use a USB cable, a charger with an integrated wall plug, or a charging stand. Check the exact model’s Philips support page and manual for the specified part and charging instructions. Philips’ charging guide describes these different setups; it does not establish one charger that fits every trimmer.

- USB cable: Check whether the model listing specifies a cable, and whether you need the cable, a wall adapter, or both.
- Integrated-plug charger: Use the model-specific charger listed by Philips rather than assuming a USB adapter will work.
- Charging stand: Confirm the exact stand or charger listed for the model; a similar-looking stand may not be compatible.
Can you use a USB charger with a Philips trimmer?
Only if the trimmer is designed to charge through a compatible USB cable. For applicable Philips products supplied with a USB charging cable, Philips identifies the HQ87 IPX4 adapter as a grooming and beauty adapter. Its charging guidance also says a reputable third-party adapter may be used with an applicable Philips USB cable if it provides 5 V and at least 1 A. This advice concerns the wall adapter; it does not make every Philips trimmer USB-chargeable or turn a USB adapter into a replacement for a model-specific cable.
Check Philips’ HQ87 product page and the exact model’s instructions before choosing an adapter. Philips accessory availability and support options can vary by country.

Is CP1788 the right replacement cable?
Philips sells CP1788 as a USB charging cable for USB-charged devices only. Its compatibility list includes selected Philips All-in-One Trimmers, not every trimmer. Before buying, compare the complete model number—including any slash suffix—with the models on Philips’ current CP1788 product listing. Do not treat CP1788 as a universal Philips charger.
Where to look up or request the correct replacement
- Record the full model code from the trimmer, packaging, or manual.
- Search Philips Parts & Accessories or the model’s support page for that exact code, not just the product-family name.
- Compare the listed part with the manual’s charging setup. Confirm whether it calls for a USB cable, integrated-plug charger, or stand.
- Check regional availability on your country’s Philips site or with local Philips support; accessory listings and request processes may differ by region.
For a missing or damaged original charger, Philips directs customers to official parts or support. Its US adapter-request guidance is available here; use your local Philips support site if you are outside the United States.

If the trimmer still will not charge
Before ordering another part, follow Philips’ troubleshooting sequence in its charging support guidance:
- Try a working power outlet.
- Use the original or Philips-recommended charger or USB cable for the model.
- Check that the plug is fully inserted. Do not force a connector that does not fit.
- Follow the manual’s instructions for cleaning and other model-specific checks.
If those checks do not resolve the issue, use the model’s Philips support page to confirm the correct replacement or contact Philips support.
