Check the TV’s lower-right edge first, then inspect the bottom center and the area behind the Samsung logo. These are common sensor locations, not a guarantee: Samsung says placement can vary by model.
Where to look on the TV
- Inspect the lower-right edge. Stand where you can see the bottom bezel and look along its right-hand side. Samsung Support US says the remote sensor is on the lower-right side on most Samsung TVs: Samsung’s sensor-location guidance.
- Check the bottom center. If there is no obvious receiver at the right edge, examine the center of the bottom bezel. Samsung identifies this as another possible location.
- Look behind the Samsung logo and near controls. On some models the receiver may be grouped with a power indicator or physical controls, so inspect those areas rather than looking only for a separate, obvious window.
The visible design differs between models; the common locations are clues, not a universal diagram. If none is apparent, use the TV’s model number to find its model-specific manual or Samsung support page.

Clear the receiver area and test the remote
Remove anything covering the lower edge or suspected sensor area, including a soundbar, decoration, or protective plastic film. For a conventional infrared remote, point it directly at the suspected receiver and press Power. Samsung notes that IR remotes require a direct line of sight and recommends removing objects between the remote and receiver: Samsung’s remote troubleshooting guidance.

If the TV does not respond, check whether the remote is transmitting IR. Samsung recommends pointing the remote at a digital camera and pressing a button; a visible flash on the camera display supports that the remote is emitting infrared. It does not confirm that the TV’s receiver is clear or working.

Check whether you have a Smart Remote
Some Samsung Smart Remotes use Bluetooth and may need to be paired. That is a different issue from finding an IR receiver: a line-of-sight check or camera test of infrared output may not explain a Smart Remote control problem. See Samsung’s Smart Remote guidance for pairing information.
When the common locations do not help
Find the model number on the TV’s label or in its settings, then search Samsung support for that exact model’s manual. Model-specific documentation is the reliable way to confirm placement when the usual lower-right, bottom-center, or logo-area checks do not reveal the receiver.
