To escape Xanthe’s trap in The Blood of Dawnwalker, clear each main room, follow the initial bookcase route, then use the door marked by a downward-pointing triangular banner with a tentacled-eye emblem whenever the room loops.

Spoilers: This sequence takes place during the assault on Griefberg Castle. Guides report that it can occur if you did not spare Xanthe or killed her before the final sequence; that trigger has not been confirmed by an official source.

Escape Xanthe’s trap step by step

The route below follows the instructions reported by PC Gamer and AllThingsHow. Clear enemies in each main room before moving on.

  1. In the first main room, defeat the enemies.

  2. Take the first door ahead and to the left.

  3. In the next room, pull back the bookcase to uncover a hole in the floor, then drop through it.

  4. When you return to the main room, clear the enemies again. Find the door beside a downward-pointing triangular banner with a tentacled-eye emblem, go through it, and drop down.

  5. If the room repeats, clear its enemies and follow the same banner clue to the marked door. Repeat this route through the next loop to leave the trap.

How to recognize the correct door

Look for the banner, not a particular door position: it is a downward-pointing triangle bearing a tentacled-eye symbol. The initial door ahead and to the left is a separate first step; once the rooms begin repeating, the emblem identifies the route to follow. AllThingsHow reports that a note in the castle foreshadows the banner clue.

What to do if the rooms keep looping

  • Make sure you have completed the initial bookcase-and-floor opening route.

  • In each repeated main room, clear the enemies before continuing.

  • Check the banner beside the door for both features: the downward-pointing triangular shape and the tentacled-eye emblem. Use that marked door, then drop down.

The guides describe this as a looping-room puzzle solved by following the indicated route, not by finding a timer or hidden switch.
