To find lower fares on Google Flights, search your actual route, then compare nearby departure and return dates with Date grid and Price graph. If your schedule is more open, use Explore or track prices for Any dates. These tools reveal options to check—not a universally cheapest weekday or a guaranteed final price.
Compare nearby dates with Date grid
-
Open Google Flights and enter your departure and destination, passenger count, and cabin. Begin with the route and trip you would genuinely consider; prices depend on the route and itinerary.

Open Date grid to compare fare combinations across nearby departure and return dates. Look for lower-priced combinations that still fit your schedule, then select one to review the available flights.
A grid cell is a candidate, not a promise that every itinerary on those dates will have that fare. Google describes Date grid and Price graph as ways to find deals; neither establishes that one weekday is always cheapest.
Use Price graph when you can move your trip farther
Choose Price graph to view how fares vary across possible trip dates. Google says it can show monthly or weekly fare trends, which is useful when you can adjust the trip window or length beyond a few adjacent days. Compare dates that suit your plans rather than relying on a general rule about which day of the week to fly.

Use Explore for a wider search
If you are flexible about when to travel—or still considering where to go—open Explore and set its flexible-date options. Google’s flow lets you choose a timeframe or trip length; the map then presents trip options and highlights the cheapest available flights. Treat the highlighted fares as leads to inspect, since the right choice still depends on route, schedule, and itinerary details.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

After searching, turn on Track prices for the selected route or flight. Google supports tracking for your searched dates and, when dates are flexible, Any dates. It sends email updates when prices change significantly. You can manage routes and notifications in Tracked Flights. See Google’s flight and price tracking instructions.
Check the full itinerary and price before booking
Open the flight you are considering and review the booking options with the airline or travel provider. Compare the details that can make two apparently similar fares different:
-
Total displayed fare and any fare conditions.
-
Departure and return dates, departure times, and number of stops.

-
Airports and route, cabin, and booking provider.
-
Taxes, fees, currency, availability, and the final price shown by the provider.

Google notes that currency, fares, taxes, fees, and available flights can vary by city. A calendar fare is therefore a search snapshot, not a guarantee of the checkout amount. Google also advises confirming with the booking provider before canceling and rebooking after a price drop; a displayed lower fare alone does not establish that changing an existing ticket is worthwhile.
