Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIn OBS, open Help > Log Files > Upload Last Log File to share the previous session’s log, or choose Upload Current Log File for the session that is still open. If OBS is closed or will not launch, find the regular session log in OBS’s logs folder; crash reports are separate files in the crashes folder. Match both artifacts to the time the stream stopped. A YouTube stream ending does not, by itself, prove that OBS crashed.
Find the log for the session that stopped
An OBS log records a run of OBS. For troubleshooting, the important file is the one from the session in which the stream stopped—not a log from a later test. OBS support guidance recommends reproducing an issue in the session whose log is uploaded; for an incident that has already happened, use the saved log that matches that incident instead. See the OBS log-upload instructions.

- Note roughly when the broadcast stopped and whether OBS remained open, displayed an error, or closed unexpectedly.
- If the affected OBS session is still open, select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Use this for the active run.
- If OBS has closed, reopen it and select Help > Log Files > Upload Last Log File, but only if the last log is still the affected run. If you have since run OBS again, locate the older file by timestamp instead.
- Save the uploaded log URL. If you need to retrieve the file locally or OBS cannot open, use the logs folder for your operating system.
The OBS support instructions describe uploading a relevant log with a support request. When reproducing a problem for a future report, start the stream, let it run until the problem occurs, stop the stream, then upload that session’s current log. Do not substitute that new test log for the file from a past incident.
Find the regular log and crash report on your computer
The regular session log and crash report are different artifacts, usually stored in separate folders. Use the paths below for a standard installation; portable or custom installations may store OBS data elsewhere. The Windows regular-log location is also given in OBS support guidance. Linux and macOS locations, along with crash-report paths, are described in OBS community support guidance.

- Open the appropriate logs folder and identify the file whose timestamp corresponds to the affected OBS session.
- Open the crashes folder separately and look for a report created around the same time.
- Keep the regular log and crash report as separate files. Label each clearly if you share both.
For a custom or portable setup, the standard paths may not apply. The cited support guidance does not cover every installation layout. It also does not specify how long OBS retains logs or guarantee that older files remain available, so preserve matching files promptly.
What each artifact can—and cannot—tell you
Regular OBS session log
The regular log describes an OBS run and contains diagnostic information about that session. It is the main artifact to share when asking for help with the affected run. A log from a different run may have little relevance to what happened during the broadcast.

OBS crash report
A crash report is a separate crash artifact, not another name for the session log. Keep it if one exists for the same incident. A crash report may not exist if OBS did not crash; a missing report does not establish that the broadcast ended normally. See the OBS forum discussion of an OBS issue and its artifacts.
A YouTube stream that stopped
A stopped broadcast alone does not show that OBS crashed. OBS’s local files can help explain what OBS recorded, but they do not establish YouTube’s reason for ending a broadcast or replace YouTube-side broadcast information. If the matching OBS artifacts do not account for the stop, investigate the platform-side information separately.

Share a useful troubleshooting report
When contacting support or posting for help, include the affected session’s uploaded log URL, any matching crash report as a separate item, your OBS version, operating system, and the approximate time the stream stopped. Make clear whether OBS closed or only the YouTube broadcast ended. This gives readers the context to distinguish an OBS-session problem from an unexplained platform-side stop.

If OBS cannot launch and you need a diagnostic launch, its launch-parameter guide documents two options:
