If they are connected to your phone over Bluetooth, you may be able to make them ring; if they are offline, you may only see an earlier or approximate location.
Choose a Samsung app to locate your Galaxy Buds
Samsung offers three overlapping ways to start a search. They are not separate third-party tracking networks: each is an entry point to Samsung’s device-finding features. The menus and available actions can vary by country, phone software, app version, and Buds model.

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds lost-device instructions list SmartThings Find and Samsung Find for Android 10 or later in the Philippines and identify supported Buds models. Compatibility and menu labels differ by region, so check Samsung’s instructions for your location and model.

- Sign in and select the Buds. Use the Samsung account that was used with the earbuds. If they are listed, open their device page.
- Check or refresh the map. Treat the displayed location as a clue, particularly if the Buds are offline. Samsung’s US guide describes map and refresh options, along with Navigate and Notify when left behind where supported: Find your lost Samsung Galaxy earbuds.
- Try Search nearby if it appears. This can help when the earbuds are close, but it is not available in every situation. Some models, including Galaxy Buds FE and Galaxy Buds2 and earlier cited by Samsung, do not support Nearby search while inside the charging case. Check the instructions for your exact model: Samsung Philippines’ model-specific guide.
- Use Ring or Play sound only if connected. Samsung says the phone and earbuds must be connected over Bluetooth for Ring to work. If they are disconnected or out of Bluetooth range, do not expect the sound command to reach them remotely. See Samsung’s lost-Buds guidance.
What to expect when the Buds are offline or missing
If the earbuds are disconnected, look at the last location shown and check whether offline finding was enabled and configured. Samsung describes offline finding as relying on nearby participating Galaxy devices to detect a Samsung device that is not connected to the internet; it is network-assisted, not guaranteed live tracking. Location is not necessarily exact. In its Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) context, Samsung Australia warns that the displayed location may differ from the device’s actual location by as much as 100 metres, and that indoor readings may also differ. That is a regional caveat, not a universal accuracy guarantee for every Buds model or country. Samsung’s guidance on registration and location updates is at SmartThings Find device locations.
Know the limits: battery, case, and setup
- Both earbuds and the case fully depleted: Samsung says the earbuds cannot be located once both their batteries and the case battery are completely depleted. Samsung Philippines.
- Charging case lost by itself: Samsung Support states, “If only the charging case is lost, its location cannot be checked separately.” The Buds finding feature does not locate the empty case on its own. Samsung’s guide, updated April 28, 2026.
- Buds still inside the case: Nearby search support depends on the model; Samsung lists some models that cannot be searched nearby while enclosed. Use the model-specific support instructions rather than assuming all generations behave alike.
- Buds missing from your account: Confirm they were paired or registered with a supported device and that the necessary Samsung apps and settings are available and current. Samsung Australia says compatible Buds used with a device without SmartThings Find cannot be found through its offline-finding feature unless the wearable has connected at least once to a device with SmartThings Find. Stay safe if the map points to a private place
If the location appears to be an unfamiliar or private property, do not try to retrieve the earbuds yourself. Samsung Canada advises sharing the location with local authorities if necessary. Samsung Canada: Find a lost Samsung device.

Reduce the chance of losing the case again
A Samsung Galaxy SmartTag attached to the charging case can help track the tagged case through SmartThings, with location updates potentially supplied by nearby participating Galaxy devices. It tracks the case, not earbuds that have been separated from it. Samsung explains SmartTag use for belongings in its SmartThings Find guide. Check current model compatibility before choosing a tag.
